Claiming that dub is more important that reggae as style proper is elitist wankery, because a lot of dub, especially the early Tubby & Scratch material, is just dicking around with a spliff, an echo chamber and one hand on the faders.

And, you know, I'm down the heady spaces being explored in great dub music, but there's a whole lot of that stuff that really only works works as bong-water backdrop. I'll take the choice cuts on Equal Rights over any Blackboard Jungle version on the market.

Apparently I've been posting a lot in The Confessions Thread lately and most of my posts haven't even been confessions.

but nobody said that. what i said is that some dub is closer to the essence than the commercial music most Americans think of when they hear the word "reggae," and that it's one place to look, and i'll stand by that.

When I see people promote their bands in youtube comments, I get angry--like, irrationally angry.

ACDC are fun as hell to play.

Metallica still suck though.

You will be.

When some of my bandmates wanted to play some kinks songs, I said they could, but I would sit down and not play. For some reason they weren't ok with that and haven't brought it up since.

I guess that makes me sound like a dick, but I really dislike the kinks.

As much as I have love for all the effects that god's created, I seem to mostly be playing with gain devices lately.

it's the oddest and least conventionally "useful" of my effects that have eaten my brain lately, since i reorganized my board: the envelope filter, the Great Wall, the Phantom Ring, and the Octave Multiplexer. nobody on Earth is ever gonna want me in their band, but i'm having the time of my life.
