EHX V4 Opamp Big Muff ('78) for the rhythm tones.
Opamp Muff + MXR Dist II for lead tones.
Occasional use of MXR Phase 100, Fender Blender and/or EHX micro synth for leads.

You are correct. The Distortion II was his "solo boost".

Positive of that. But I have a distinct memory (90% sure) that he wanted it to do bass parts. Not hardcore enough to be sure but I thought he always did all the bass parts on the albums.

It continues...

Picked up a used Bass Big Muff for $35!! I couldn't pass it up.
I also have a Black Russian small-box sitting on my front porch right now....can't wait to get home to check it out.
I know the Bass Muff and Russian are supposed to be very similar, so I may not end up keeping both unless I just want to have a massive Big Muff collection.

So far I have:
EHX Little Big Muff
EHX Black Russian
EHX Bass BIg Muff
OLC Whisker Biscuit
Barber Trifecta
...and on the waitlist for the SUF Pumpkin Pi to satisfy my opamp-muff Siamese Dream jones.

Oh, I almost forgot...my buddy is sending me his Psionic Audio 3.14 to checkout.

Might be time to do a shootout with some audio clips.

I think the Caroline Guitars Wave Cannon is an IC-based circuit.

The Black Russian Muff is very cool. Darker and seemingly a touch less gain than the LBM. The tone control has less useful range, but there's a weird (good) mid-boost that appears to pop up at the last little bit of the CCW pot travel that I like.

It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Bass BM which I believe should be arriving today. I'm hoping the BBM sounds basically the same as the Russian, because it is a huge beast that is taking up mucho space on my board. Plus I can't seem to find the battery-snap cable for my Pedal Power 2+. If I end up keeping the Russian I'll have to drill it for a 9Vdc adapter jack.

I just ordered a muff clone from Mom-D (shark tank) It seems to have tons of tonal options.... I will let you know how it sounds when it arrives. Checkout the shark tank description... pretty impressive... maybe it is an option that you should consider...just sayin'

I am loving my Silver Rose. Does not seem to get a lot of good press around here but has loads of sweet tones.
IC muff, superfuzz and everything in between!

I think there is a black one being traded on the sale pages for $325.

Saw it but thanks, which reminds me as to why no one likes the thing: the price
