"Lola vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround" by the Kinks. i really want to get drunk because the last week and a half has been so fucking depressing, but i come from a long line of alcoholics and it's really not a good idea so i'm listening to mid-period Kinks in an effort to simulate the drunken experience :!!!: hey, it's less depressing than listening to early Tom Waits.

still all about the Kinks. i've moved on to Village Green Preservation Society, which may be the most charming of the lot. it's not even that i like the music so much, though it's quite enjoyable...it's that it sounds so gosh-damned friendly. i understand now why they used to have some of the most rabid fans in Christendom, people who used to just love Ray the way people love an old dog.
