This looks like a pretty cool guitar, but there are things about it I don't like (STRAT INPUT). I was thinking about getting a custom body made that was similar, with a P-90 in the neck, only. I like the look of a stripped-down, no pickguard Jazzmaster.
I looked at Warmoth, but I don't know if they offer bodies with routing like that. How does it work? Is it all through like tubes and tunnels in the body?
I'd basically want just the P-90 in the neck, like I said, with Tone and Volume controls and an input jack on top like a regular Jazzmaster; mahogany body. That's it. Pretty simple.
Any recommendations?

It looks like it's just routed like a Les Paul: Two cavities cut from the back for the controls and switch and two from the top where the pickups sit; interconnected by small tunnels for the wires.

I check the warmoth site and they won't let you get rear routed Jag bodies so, you'll probably have to look elsewhere.

I saw that, yeah, no rerouted Jags. BUT I could get a rerouted Jazzmaster from them, as they offer that. I only want one pickup in there as well, so no switch is necessary. Curious thing about their JM cut, though: doesn't offer a top-mounted input jack. Weird. Guess I could e-mail them.
I planned on getting a HUGE headstock on the neck too, what they call the CBS Stratocaster (the CBS Jag neck only fits Jags, which can't have rear routing). Perhaps I can make it all go.
One more thing: What's the deal with the hole right in the center of the Jazzmaster body at Warmoth? Weird.
That being said, my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster is virtually flawless, and I got it new from an authorized dealer for $314. Sounds awesome and stays in tune REALLY well.
Haha... Tom and I had a "Make Yer Own Geetar" discussion a year or so ago... mine just got too fucking complicated and expensive. So yeah, I saw this weirdo guitar and figured I could do something similar... clear satin finish, one P-90 in the neck, and that's it.
Warmouth will pretty much rout any pickup combo/control cavity you want. An extra long bit is used to drill the feed hole from the pickup to the cavity so no need for a pg.

Dude, the more I play it, the more I think I like it better than my tried and true blue super-trusty Gibson Faded Special Double Cut. I've had that fucker for years and I love it... but I don't know... this Squier J Mask is a hottie.
How does it work? You drill holes with a long bit and through the through the neck pocket as much as you can the rest takes a bit to work out the right angles.
