Less than 3 King Crimson. In the Court of the Crimson King is probably my favourite, followed by Red.

I have to say the '80s to present King Crimson is usually what I gravitate towards, but the first couple albums and the Larks Tongues through Red phases aren't far behind. I never really cared for the post-Greg Lake/pre-John Wetton albums. Always sort of fell flat for me.

I like pretty much everything by the original group, though some of it had to grow on me; i did not like the Starless group when it was current. i'm not much on the post-1981 stuff; that kind of relentless polyrhythmic approach on the stringed instruments doesn't appeal to me, and i really don't like Belew's vocals. really, REALLY. but most of all, i don't find the timbres of their combined instruments enjoyable. i know loads of people who love that stuff, though.
