Power to Pedals

We just decided that I'm not longer going to be doing vocals for our band, so on a positive note I'll be able to use more of my pedals! My only problem is powering all these suckers, so just thought I would see what some of you guys find to work the best. Here's a crappy pic from my camera.

It looks like you're already using a Onespot or something similar. That'd be my suggestion. Maybe add another daisy chain to the end of the one you have to take care of all the 9v stuff. I don't know about the DMM, I bet it's center negative or takes a mini plug type end (which you can do with a onespot as long as it's 9v).

Otherwise, a couple of Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2's oughtta just about power any board under ten feet long as long as you have about $550 to spend on power supplies. I use a onespot and supplement it with whatever adapters I need for the job, usually a 12v for my Nova Delay and a 15v center negative for the Tonebone.

I use the Dunlop DC-Brick: 7x9v outs and 3x18v outs.
Then I just grabbed a couple of short daisy chains off eBay and I was good to go; powering 15+ pedals no worries.

I kinda wish the pedal power versa would come out.

You could try and score 2 used pp2's for a reasonable price.

The Pedal Power will power up to 8 pedals. I don't know how many pedals the TU-2 can power but it should be able to cover the rest of your board.

I would highly recommend the Pedal Power. It's ~ $180 I think and is built to last. It's got a plug in the back even so you could plug in a power strip for extranious power supplies. It's also super quiet since everything's on it's own circuit.

I just looked this up and don't really understand the appeal. Is it going to be cheaper than the PP2?

I use a combination... Pedal Power 2, wall warts, and a daisy chain from the 9V out jack of my TU-2 tuner. I discovered some of my clean/modulation effects such as Carbon Copy echo and Deja Vibe really didn't like to be on the daisy chain, guess they weren't getting proper power, so they get their own wall warts (could also use the PP2 tho). Other clean fx and ODs are on the PP2 and most of my fuzz seem happy daisy chained from the tuner. Note that some fuzz pedals (like an MKII) require an isolated, non daisy-chained, power source.

The TU-2 and daisy chain could work for most pedals but I think it has its limitations like I ran into. Also, the daisy chain itself is a problem for me b/c some of my pedals have the 9v plug on different sides so it won't reach without flipping the pedal around which I hate, yeh, I'm anal like that...
Ultimately I may get another PP2 for piece of mind and eliminate all the wall warts and daisy chain.

You probably saw the early prototypes...the "new" versa they showed at NAMM had 13 isolated outputs. It is quite large though.

8 isolated 9vDC outputs - 4 selectable to 12vDC, 2 are 250mA (for higher-current 9vDC pedals) and selectable to what is probably unregulated (for Line 6 modellers).
3 high-current DC sections:
9/12v, 500mA total (separate outputs for the two voltages, but not isolated from each other)
12/15v, 500mA
18/24v, 200mA
2 AC sections:
9/12vAC (two separate outputs, but not isolated) and 9vAC.

As for daisy chaining the TU-2...it just shares whatever power source you are using for tu-2 with anything you daisy chain in.
Might be ok for low draw fuzzes, but anything starts too much.

I use a couple 1Spots for most of my pedals. I have a couple of the EHX Tube pedals. They have their own funky power supply.

I've got a T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr and I like it. 5 isolated 9v outputs. I got it new for $79 shipped.

Burkey has some flexible but somewhat expensive solutions.
