Aww who am I kidding... that's actually really awesome...i'm guessing it's a 'noise-y' band?
I'm pretty much trying to emulate the sounds of my biggest Drone heroes - Rafael Toral and Kevin Drumm. It works really well in this setting and if anyone is into shaping feedback: get a 4eyes Fuzz from Fairfiel Industries. It's the crucial component to making this sound right.
Somtimes a drone E and "solo" over it for 10 or 20 minutes... It's those hidden harmonics that make strings and wood and fuzz and tubes sound soooo Godlike to my ears...
P.S. I appreciate everyone's responses on this subject. It's very interesting to hear what you guys think about the instrument and how you approach it from a mental and physical level.
Success has many fathers, but failure is always an orphan.
I was wondering if any of you have tried out band happy yet. It's that website that facilitates online lessons and also in person lessons with touring musicians. The list of teachers is fairly slanted towards younger metal bands since the drummer from Periphery is the founder, but I really like the concept.

What was your first lesson like? Was it online or in person? I'm trying to set up an in-person lesson with the dude from The Faceless when they come through town. I'm curious about the online lessons and wonder how they would go. I've never used a webcam before.

It was online. I can't afford lessons with people in person - or I can, but I don't want to spend that much money. It was good, and I'm going to be doing a once a week thing with him.
Tell me how that lesson with the guy from the Faceless goes. They're sweet. I hear they're coming out with a new album soon.
If you like them check out Fallujah. They just released their first album, "The Harvest of Wombs". They're kind of like a atmospheric Cosmogenesis era Obscura with some Faceless flavouring. Maybe just a bit of Gojira and or The Contortionist for good measure.
