Scarab Deluxe

This is a "Deluxe" version of the Scarab with more control over "feel" and adjustments in bias.

This version adds in a couple knobs over the 3 knob version.

Read the Scarab description below for the main attributes.

BIAS:
Tonebender type circuits vary depending on the bias of the 3rd transistor. Gritty gated tones on one end of the dial, sustaining lead tones in the middle and sweet lower gain tones at the other end of the rotation. Bias affects tone and gain.

FAT:
The low end at the input of the circuit affects fuzz amount and saturation. The feel of the pedal can be adjusted from a saturated slower responding "fat fuzz" to a snappy, fast responding, slightly less gain fuzz that has the feel of a distortion or overdrive. This helps dial in a single coil to be fat or a humbucker to clear up a bit and be more senitive to dynamic picking.

woof. i KNOW. Matt at Wren & Cuff just builds some ANGRY stuff doesn't he?

the awesome pedal store near me asked what are some fuzzes and stuff to check out, i brought in a bunch of loot and left it for a weekend for them to play with. when i picked up the stuffs they said they'd be carrying W&C because the PPB sounded GREAT and they had 2 people ask to buy it while they were playing around with it.

they can't keep the stuff in stock. good shits.

Could you possibly explain a little more? Like, would I want to measure the voltage drop across the trimpots?

Not as easy as it sounds, you'd have to measure the voltage drop and know where the trimmer would go to get that exact voltage. To measure resistance requires disconnection of the component in question from the circuit otherwise the DMM will measure the entire circuit's DCR.

I think that's a fair trade.

Is that a Spooky Tooth FF?

It's really finnicky and I've seen so many cool old delays completely fucked because people think they're going to get 120 ms delay time out of a DM-2 for example, and all that happens is it now goes PING! behind every distorted delayed note. I think it's worse with analog delays, and I know your Digitech is digital, but it's really hard to put the trimpots back exactly where they need to be without an oscilloscope -- I find it hard even with a scope.

Holy fuck that got there fast! I think your stuff came today but I have been in a library for seven hours, so I don't know for sure.

p.s. flip that El Cap back to me if you need to unload it please. :thumb: I miss it already.
