Yeah, there are a few crazy NZ collectors who seem to think the old Jansens are solid gold or something.
I've never laid my hands on one, but on appearances they don't seem like much of a step up beyond the eastern european offset knock offs.

The amps though, go for a couple hundred all day on trademe.co.nz. Great cheap old tube amps (despite the name they're not actually bassman clones). See also Holden, which were basically Marshall clones, the founder of that company moved to Aus and started Wasp amps. Which were used on the first few AC/DC records.

Hello Music has Flanger Hoaxes for $160, but there is also a $25 off coupon for your first purchase, so you can get one for $135 + shipping right now. Not ebay, but whatever.

More from DC area Craigslist:

http://craigslist.verkata.com/mld/msg/2849262734.html
In Laurel, MD: Silver-knob Yamaha G-100 solid state head and unspecified 412 for $135. Should be good for a loud, Fenderish clean that is supposed to play well with pedals, and sometimes people report liking the overdrive. Smoking deal, I would say.

http://craigslist.verkata.com/nva/msg/2859851835.html
Ashburn, VA: a pile of stuff, but I am tempted by the Peavey Classic 50 stereo tube power amp (quad of EL-84s a side) for $125 and a straight and an angled Laney 212 each for $75, Celestion loaded. I think I've seen pics of the cabs posted before, and they look like Marshall 1966s. For $300 for the package, a Behringer modeler and a tuner, both rackmount, will get thrown in.

http://craigslist.verkata.com/mld/msg/2861629627.html
College Park, MD: mid 70s Acoustic Control 450 bass head and 106 2x15 cab for $500. I think a better than decent deal, but it's hard to tell when I don't see this stuff come up often.
