fender excelsior available for preorder now!

Post by ifeellikeatourist »

Yeah yeah I know that this was already brought up in the namm 2012 and " fender cool kid amps" threads, but this thing is so badass, I'm bringing it up again. Just found out this sexy piece of amp is now available for preorder at american musical supply and expected to be in stock by the end of the month!

So far ams is the only place I've seen them available for preorder, so I figured I would throw out a heads up to everyone. I'm hoping to be able to demo one first, but provided it sounds as good as it looks, I think this will be the amp I've been looking for.

WTF is "preorder"? That's as much of a nonsense word as "preplanning".
Her: "Why do you need to build 'some more' amps?"
Me: "Because that will make me happy. That's important for you, right? For me to be happy?"

odd to spilt the pre and power sections, knobs make me think this thing has trimpots, it really needs a tone control instead of a switch (hopefully easily modable), and looks like there is no back to this, not even a partial back.

I'd consider buying used or on blowout, but definitely not paying full retail.

That's what I was thinking.

Even just a tone pot instead of a switch would be better too.

Still intrigued for some reason...

I wonder how the high-voltage wiring between the two chasis passes any sort of modern safety standard. Putting some pants on back there so it's not all flapping in the wind might help.

The trem apparently being one-knob seems like an odd choice. If it's built mod-friendly, I'd use the trem switch hole to put a depth pot in and put a footswitch jack on the bottom of the upper chassis.

If it's voiced okay, I'm okay with no tone control.
