I like it -- it's just not original. It's supposed to look like this one. I'd love to know the backstory -- I can't imagine going to all the trouble of stripping off the hammerite to paint a pedal red.

Here's a fun one I got for $almost_nothing off fleabay.
Rogue fuzz. Despite the way it looks, it's not some OEM Big Muff.
Sounds like an angry Japanese Giant Hornet in an oil drum.
Leaning toward the gnarly Maestro, Orpheum, and Fuzzrite 60s garage buzz box kinda sound.
Pot codes put it at 1972ish? (pots read 1132722 / 304 V 7226, which I think is Stackpole 1972 week 26? The other one is some manufacturer part code?)
Seems to be a member of the Applied, Conrad, Goya etc. family and is the missing link between the Goya Fury Box and the Guild FW-3.

Trannies are a TI 2n5781 (Si, PNP) and a 2n5172 (Si, NPN).

this thread rules so hard. I would love to delve into vintage fuzz pedals, but I couldn't repair anything if it was broken - i'm hopeless with a solder gun.
Maybe partying will help.

A few triangles -- all FS36999 / 2n5133

This one had been (badly) modded with odd cap values and sounded like crap until Skinpimp Ryan fixed it for me.

This is a good un out the door

Yeah, I think that's part of the problem. You might wanna try an iron instead of a gun.
