yeahhhhh.... i WANTED to like Oblivion. i haven't played an rpg on anything past the PS2 that i dug on. but i kinda hate sandboxers, and Oblovo was a meh rpg in a giant sandbox.

Most BethSoft titles can be thought of as a sandbox with a starter quest attached to it...and I was on my third OB character before even starting the main quest. Mod community FTW!
That said, I enjoyed Fallout3 more than Oblivion, and Morrowind pwn'd both of them. I have hopes for Skyrim but won't be seeing it for awhile...have to financially recover from buying my new video card.

I didn't even buy oblivion because it looked too much dumbed down from morrowind, which is one of my favourite games ever. With morrowind, there's just no need to do the main quest because there's so much to do and it's all fun, and I get the same sort of feeling with Skyrim. I do still miss levitation and crazy jump spells though, jumping over mountains would be incredible. Wait for the mods I guess.
The fact that I'm having so much fun with Skyrim makes me think Oblivion might be good too though, for anyone who's played all 3, or just Skyrim and Oblivion, how does it compare?
i didn't like Oblivion that much, my lil brother did, he said that SkyRim feels like them taking all the bad shit from Oblivion out and adding loads of fun stuff.
and dragons.
big fucking dragons.

IMO, Oblivion isn't as bad as some say...but it ain't Morrowind.
There are a TON of mods available for OB on PC that extend the game well past what's presented in the plain vanilla game, and these help make it worth playing again. In fact, it could be argued that the mod community made OB worth playing to begin with, since it's entirely possible to spend a LOT of time in the game and never touch any of the vanilla quests (although the guild quests are worth doing, for the most part).

PLayed Oblivion for a few hours than quit, I just wasn't having fun and my character felt so insignificant. Skyrim did a much better job in the begining I think and I'm more motivated to continue after killing my first dragon. I killed a giant at level 6 and felt like a god

Nice. I walked up to a giant when I was like level 3 or 4 and was like "hmmm, maybe I can get a quest from this guy, or trade with him or something..." Then he hit me like 50 feet into the air and killed me...

50 feet? Must've just stomped you... When you get thrown so hard that you hit the skybox before the game reloads your last save...then you'll know a giant clubbed you.

Lol. Well I don't know how far I would have gone. I reloaded before I finished flying.
