Daisy Chain or ABY Box?

Have 2 amps that I will like to run at the same time, VOX Pathfinder and a ’77 Fender Musicmaster Bass amp. Thinking I would daisy chain with the VOX > Fender or vice versa, depending on the sound. However, what would an A/B/Y box accomplished? Is there any advantage, or just the option to select one amp or both? What have others done?

daisy-chaining two amps may (or may not) allow settings adjustments to the amp in front to affect the amp in back. an ABY box should isolate the two from each other. on the other hand, you won't get the kind of pre-amping effect you can get with daisy-chaining multiple amps.

I use a DeLisle A/B/C for this exact purpose and I couldn't be happier.
They also make an A/B/Y.

The Fender has two inputs, so I can run the guitar into one output and run the other to the VOX. Do I need to use a speaker cable to do this or would a regular instrument cable work?

I am not sure if that would actually work,
I don't think 2 inputs on an amp work like 2 inputs on a cab (might be wrong)
If you can do it this way you would maintain both preamps but I don't think you can

I do run one amp into another but I bypass the preamp on the second amp
I use a guitar cable not a speaker cable as I think you still want the shielded input, and there is no need to have a balanced cable because you aren't pushing any actual power

The VOX also has a line out. Cloud this be used as well?
