Post by hatshirt »

i'm watchin back to the future right now and the part where marty has to play guitar on jonny b. goode at the school dance to get his parents to hook up just came on. made me realize that MJF had some serious guitar wizardry goin down. its too bad that mofo has parkinsons disease, he's a badass.

Idk...... he had parkinson's when he was on Scrubs..... but idk what season that was...

And remember if it weren't for Michael J Fox.....there wouldn't be Chuck Berry.

And he's playing my favorite guitar of all time. Goddamn do I love 335s, especially in cherry.

He is/was a real guitarist. He didn't play on the track you hear...but his "performance" is for the most part accurate. Props to him for taking it seriously.

he's still sick BTW....no mystery cure. he did a television ad for the support and awareness of stem cell research a couple years ago and looked pretty fukking bad. so bad that Rush Limbaugh accused him of acting. meanwhile Rush is prob washing down a oxycodone as i type this. but that's another story....

anyway.....he mos def can play guitar (.... played all the parts in that movie he did with Joan Jet..."Light of Day")
but session dood Tim May played the Back to the Future guitar parts. (i googled it :yay: .. didn't just happen to know)

I have to admit, it was watching Back to the Future back then I was what, 7 or 8, that made me want to play the guitar. It wasn't just the cool rendition of Chuck Berry but his freak out bit at the end, kicking over the amp and stuff, I fell in love with noise and crazy guitar-ness.

Kudos to Mr Fox! :joy:

So yeah this thread inspired me to watch some Chuck Berry vids. Here he be w/ John Lennon.

This is from that same live set that the comedian Bill Burr refers to in his video on why Yoko Ono sucks.

Also on topic, I always really liked the riff that Future Marty McFly does when he picks up his guitar at age 47,
years after he had broken his hand in a drag-racing incident. It was unplugged and sounded all dissonant, I've never been able to reproduce it.
It's in BTTF 2, can't find a clip of it though.

I think that part happens after he gets the "YOU ARE FIRED" fax from his boss....

Hah, yeah that's right.

I always thought it was super funny how far off movies and fiction in general ordinarily get about The Future.
Like really? In 2015, a fax machine? ? ? Not just like words on a screen, or a hologram or something..
