from Scruffie :)

AWESOME

so lush and pleasant... absolutely inspiring, too - i came up with a new sound almost immediately (this + deep square wave trem+echo bouncing the tremolo in rhythm)

no bleeding, no real volume drop and no ugly tone suckage (at least i didn't notice anything outrageous)

oh yeah the only thing i don't like is how heavy it is  and that there is a crazy jump from midspeed to crazy fast, but whatevs

Ha! Scruffie got it from me! That's a great pedal right there - glad that you're enjoying it. I bought it decades ago from a stoner roommate who was having an impromptu yard sale so he could pay for rent. Basically, I bought it so he wouldn't sell the microwave. It served me well for a long time...

i love the green sovtek version!
it is real thick and creamy///

its also dark enough that it doesn't give you a little squeak! at the top of the cycles like the other small stones.

Dude, great story! I love hearing a good history lesson. Microwaves are the heart of a bachelor pad. It got me thinking of my first place that I shared with a bff. Our property manager was a bit of a slum lord and refused to fix our stove without raising our rent. We went a full year without being able to use the stove. Every meal was cook on either the George Forman Grill, the deep fryer or the microwave. I'm surprised we didn't have a heart attack from all the crap we were eating.

DA: my Whetstone is one of my favorite pedals, and single handedly made me a believer in phaser. I'd love to try the other variations of the Small Stone, and that green Russian is at the top of the list. It's good to hear that it's awesomeness still prevails. Great NPD! :thumb:

For what is worth I have both and they are VERY different. The sovteck with the color on just has this thickness that takes over, very few other phasers I've tried can do this. Where as the Whetstone always retains a amount of clarity.

I wonder if there are any clones out there that do this. I did love the sound... so thick and dark... and the more you guys talk about it, the more I miss it! :picard:

Oh good lord, I am a dope...

That said, I'm glad that it found a good home in the ILF family. Hopefully DarkAxel will add his own bits of history to this thing's checkered past!

Fuckin sweet, dude!

Yeah, small stones are awesome, and the russian ones really are fantastic. And I always dig whenever my ILF brethren show the modulation love. I want to try a bad stone really bad.

It's worth a lot actually . Now I don't have to feel like a pedal collector knowing that there's that much of a difference. Phasers FTW!

Hell yeah modulation :) i'm a phaser person, but i know that a flanger CAN sound pretty divine too and not just stupid 80's-like, i just have to find the right one (frankly Stereo Electric Mistress was kinda cool!!)

also - Bad Stone seems interesting, but if i'm correct tehy are very hard to find

I'd love to have a Whetstone! :) i guess it could do almost everything i get from EP-1+Small stone... but for now i'm absolutely happy with those two :)

They are... unless you're the guy that with the help of Ryan and two others arranged the sale of 100 Fabricated Boards for a Bad Stone, so there should be more out there now, clones anyway, infact I have a PCB or two left for them... and do intend to redesign the PCB to be better eventually.

I'm glad you're loving it Dark Axel!

As for non 80s Flanger... try the A/DA it does ALOT of sounds.

And I now have to sell my traded Frazz Dazzler to pay rent (well council tax) another notch in its story!
