Guitar/Bass you'd love to have that no one would expect

Post by adrianlee »

What's a guitar/bass you'd love to have that none of your bandmates/friends/GF's/BF's/Parents, WHATEVER would expect you to play? Maybe even make fun of you for getting it.

Example. I'm typically a Fender guy. While I love SGs, I'm a fender guy. However......I would LOVE to have this:

This guitar wreaks of some rock. Man, i love that guitar.

Same, I also play a Strat, but I do love my friend's ESP Explorer copy, also when I tell people I play Mandolin it catches them off guard alot.

something with a Floyd Rose, so i could do octave bends and come back in tune. it'd have to come with an acceptable neck profile, though, not one of those ridiculous flat-D shapes like they have on the ESPs.

and a huge (17") archtop...a Gibson L-series or a natural-finish Gretsch Country Club or something like that. it' be a total wank because i can't play jazz for shit, but it'd sure be great to have.

I've always wanted a Kramer The Duke. And yet, I'd never play a steinberger. Dunno why.

I'd love one of those Jenna Jameson Jackson V's. It has active pickups and a Floyd which is what I otherwise avoid. But it would be my metal guitar of choice.

I had a 3/4 scale of those before, wasn't ibanez, was a custom made from Michigan (where I live) had a sick shattered mirror finish. Just didn't play well, being a 3/4.

I think my friends have long since accepted that my tastes are of the acquiresome taste. But I think people would give me a hard time for this nonetheless:

okay, now this could really drop jaws and I feel I'm coming out of the closet  but yeah - I'd LOVE to try the rubberstring ashbury to a few more jazzy pieces. With a little rough fuzz love and then some more.

I'd love a V -- come so close to buying one a bunch of times...

but I think unless you're Albert King or Jimi Hendrix, a V just looks stupid.

I play a lot of offsets (jazzmaster/cycloneII/toronado)...I love their sound

...but my favorite guitar to play is still this one:

Image

Resting the offset V shape between your legs like a sexy lady friend just feels right for those tricky/shreddy parts...and the huge upper bout serves as a killer arm rest.
Compound radius necks should be on EVERY guitar

Also a huge explorer fan

I stole that from prince a while ago but I have not played it cause I will never be as good or as short as him. and so it sits in my closet forgotten and purple.
