NPD - McSpunckle and FH - Thank You ILF!

Post by Holy Schnikes »

Here's some recent acquisitions. I have to say, since joining in on the ILF fun, my fuzz/pedal collection has been growing uncontrollably, just so many great designs out there. I'm truly floored by the McSpunckle offerings, really doing a disservice to yourself if you don't have one of these, the VTF in particular, christ that thing is amazing!

Gnomeratron VTF Deluxe This thing is insane, truly a veritable fuzz work station! I kept going back and forth on my order but McS hooked me up with the Deluxe in the end and I'm glad he did. I've only played it about four hours but managed to wrangle countless badass tones from it. Everything is super interactive and the results are so wide ranging, one of the coolest pedals I've ever owned. I've just barely scratched the surface with this thing.

I use a Pharaoh, Algal Bloom, and AB-Synth 5K for my easier, plug, dial, and play fuzz options so the VTF takes some getting used to. That's to be expected though when the pedal comes equipped with 9 knobs, 7 toggles, and 4 trimmers, lordy, that's a tweaker's dream right there. Further, build quality and cosmetic design are both superb! Kudos to jrmy for the art, looks fantastic and I love the epoxy McS uses, like a shiny glass top, looks wonderfully unique.

And Aardvarks! So after only a day with the VTF, I was already ordering the AA! I'm loving this one for it's simplicity and super transparent OD tones. Dialed this one in no problem, could see it becoming and always/mostly-on pedal in my setup. Also, the VTF, Pharaoh, and Algal Bloom sound incredible when you run 'em into the AA! The graphic with the Aardvark riding the Centaur rodeo style is a great touch too!

Great work McSpunckle, I'm sold!!!

Phantom ArcadeI love the PA, tons of insane, useable tones within. Originally purchased this to replace my DBA Octave Clang which was sort of a one-trick pony for me. The PA does Octave Clang even better and then sooooooooo much more. It can go real subtle and synthy or all out mayhem. Also super interactive and when it's all lit up, breathtaking. This one is a custom finish Tom did, hard to see but he gave it a healthy dose of silver glitter, sparkles like the dickens in person!

Arc Flash My CREAM DREAM SURPRISE winnings! Honestly, I was guilty of overlooking the Arc Flash in the past, not sure why, but that was a mistake! Sounds like a monster, cutting fuzz/distortion hybrid and it shines when stacking it with other fuzz, just throws everything up to the stratosphere. Thanks Tom, thanks ILF!

I don't really have a video setup for clips, I need to check out SoundCloud though, maybe get some demos up using that...

That is truly an epic NPD! Congrats again on the Arc Flash. Super sweet. Definitely looking forward to the possibility of clips!

So true :picard:

As for McSpunx, the And Aardvarks looked like it would be my next OD purchase but then some random builder came out with the Fuck OD and I couldn't resist. The Deluxe Gnomeratron is a fuzztweakers wet dream. Will definitely get one at some point after things settle down a bit. Meanwhile I'll hold out and McSpunx can come up with a deluxer version to fill out that bottom left corner with more knobs.

I think the Gnomeratron VTF DELUXER should feature knobs over the gnome's eyes and nose.

Oh, and an officially Dwarfcraft-Licensed TRUER BYPASS footswitch.

This recommendation from another thread got me curious about the And Aardvarks!, thanks for SOLID advice univalve!

If McSpunckle is this creative with fuzz, I can't wait to see what results when he makes a foray into other territory, delay, trem, modulation, etc....
