Moog Low Pass Filter looks really promising. Should be able to get one for under $250 used.....has cv inputs. Anybody have thoughts on one of these?

Those are both dope. And the Moog Lowpass will self oscillate and then you can pitch it by sending CV into the Cutoff input. You can also pitch the FreqBox with CV I do believe. Also - there's a pretty inexpensive Moog Ring Mod on Muff's right now.

The Trogotronic Modular 666 looks pretty interesting. Has quite a bit of cv input. $325



Sent an e-mail to Trogotronic and he told me he could build the module into a stand-alone box with a power supply for an extra $75. So $400 for a standalone modular noise synth that could be connected to the ark via cv.

I'm planning my first modular at the moment. an MOTM system. I know kosta said he is building a modular too. I was gonna do eurorack but last weekend I went to a synth meet up and I got to play with this huge modcanA beast pictured below. also got to play with eurorack and MOTM. euro is very compact. some love it and some hate it. on the one hand its cheap, compact, lots of modules and manufacturers. on the negative though, its compact making it hard to read or twiddle knobs and the 1/8 jacks are flimsy, sometimes break, require adaptors when patching other modulars, power connectors are reversed on some modules (thats bad cause you'll blow it up). also, modcanA, buchla, serge use banana. there is no ground on the cable but they have a built in multiple so you can stack cables to make a Y cable on the fly. but you need adaptors to go between 1/4, 1/8, banana

if you really want a small euro, I would get a dark energy eurorack module and an analog systems rs40 noise + clock + Sample & Hold. I almost did that myself. then add a doepfer log/exp mixer, a doepfer sine lfo, a guitar input/env follower module (so you can plug in your guitar and do Q-tron shit). if you want play it with a keyboard you need a midi to cv module. also good to have an attenuator and a 1/4 jack on the output but I would DIY that, its super super easy.

this is cheaper.
