Fixing a blown pedal?

Post by jmeunier »

The other day i did something very very stupid. I had just won an old signal flex chorus from ebay for $15. I went to test it out, and in a fit of uncharacteristic dumbness and new pedal hysteria, i accidently grabbed the wrong wall wart and plugged it into the pedal. I stepped on it, it powered up and made some disgusting noises, not in a good way either, and died completely several seconds after. Now it wont power up at all, or pass a signal. I think i used an power supply of the wrong polarity or power and it blew the pedal. Would something like that do it?
(sigh) :(
So now im trying to figure out if this is something fixable (or even worth fixing,) or if i just made myself a paperweight?

It could be a couple things. IF the pedal had a "protection diode", then replacing that MAY fix it. IF it was analog and didnt have the diode, then likely the BBD chips are fried.

Can you post some decent pictures of the circuit board ?

Sorry about the wait, my mom borrowed the digital camera on an extended trip to Florida. I forgot to add that the LED lit up very bright before the pedal stopped working. From what I've heard about this sort of thing, It doesn't sound too good. Here's the insides:
