See.. in the end... it is best to try stuff out, that is why there are guys in music shops to irritate :thumb:

Bass boosting pedal... any EQ pedal will do this, boss makes the things... they boost and stuff.

my SVT VR with the inputs dimed would destory for the sound you want. I also have the Grabber bass which packs a mighty punch. I'd recommend something with dual or quad inputs if he decides to go tube... and dime it. Quiet but loud beautiful crisp clear nasty breakup. IMO NOTHING sounds meaner than tubes breaking up, especially at high volumes. Think Black Sabbath.

If he doesn't want tubes and will go the colder, mellower route of trustable, reliable solid state. Acoustic makes awesome heads. Sunn, obvious choice. Galien Krueger makes terrific stuff which I'd like to get. And I'd suggest a "tube simulated distortion" Ie. Op Amp/IC distortions (Tube Screamers, Rats). OR FET based pedals (similar to ICs). And a Big Muff 'cause well it isn't metal until a Big Muff gets involved. IC Big Muff = Double the Trouble.

None of the below!

I've tried most of that and have heard the clips of the rest.

A. the amp has a graphic EQ so the Electro-Harmonix Nano Steel Leather Bass Expander
Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal are unneeded.

B. the BBM sounds not good in a not good way.

C. Look at the Mellowtone Singing tree and Devi ever KP for more better OD.

D. There are many good fuzzes! more later.... maybe....

TAFM and the gnomeratron for the fuzzys/distortion although with metalcore maybe clean or i heard the rusty box is coo. Like what was said before try lots of shit out and it will prob. take years to find the right ones...or your friend will become addicted adn end up with a room full of effects :thumb:

Might just be damn good.

Another clean blend fuzz I personally keep wanting to try is the Hair of the dog by Dwarfcraft Devices, I think it would totally rock.

Also since we are in the area of this... not really but... anyone know what that pedal Shane Emery uses? I've seen picts of it sitting on top of his amp :?:

Look, if he gave a shit about actual metalcore, he'd know Brian Cook from Botch. He's already got the Grabber. All he needs is a SVT4PRO, an 8x10, and a swollen pickle or a RAT.

DONE.
