Picking up the radio...
Since some pedals pick up the radio, I was wondering if it was possible to make a pedal that pick's it up on purpose. I thought that this might be a pretty cool effect for some songs. However, I don't know much about it so I don't know if it would work. Any one here every tried this or have any ideas about it. I couldn't build it but maybe a builder here could if its possible...

I had this idea a while back too. I would totally buy something that did this on purpose. Maybe with some kind of controls to warp what was actually being picked up into some kind of weird modulation?

Yes that would be amazing, someone please tell me this is possible and that they will make one for me

Ooh - that WOULD be cool. Or how about if the radio signal somehow affected the rate/depth of the modulation of your instrument signal?

Just get some kind of a looper -- sample the radio that you want and play it back at will.

Re: Picking up the radio...
Sure, but I think what Starcastic and I are talking about is a pedal where there's a certain amount of randomness inherent to the modulation, because it's being partially controlled by an outside source (in this case, the radio signals that the pedal would be designed to pick up).

itd also be like sampling songs that are being played on the radio, pretty neat idea. like adding a subtle hint of like lady gaga into the mix haha. she may actually sound good put through tons of fuzz and modulation

i love this idea. i will look into it!
edit: on second thought, it might make more sense to use a small portable radio as a CV input into a pedal?

Re: Picking up the radio...
I tend to delve into noise and ambient music once in a while.
I've always thought it would be interesting to use a radio signal as a modulation source in some type of AM, FM, or Ring-Mod effect instead of the standard internal oscillator to add a bit of an aleatoric element to it. You could still use it musically to a degree if your input source is playing a melody, but I thought it would be fun to just modulate two radio stations against each other into an incomprehensible mess.

Dano from Beavis audio built a fuzz pedal with an antenna before I'm pretty sure. all you'd have to do is attach some least to a transistor methinks.
