what/who is yr favorite band?

i know this is generic, but whatever. name yr all time favorite band(s) and then yr favorite song of theirs.

in order:

MODEST MOUSE - make everybody happy (mechanical birds) // the "outro" to this song is the most amazing thing i've ever heard. hearing isaac brock doing whatever he's doing to make the sound that's coming out of his guitar for the first time was like having a religious experience. if you've never given this song the time of day, do so now.

SONIC YOUTH - schizophrenia // another generic section of this thread, but i don't care, because this is one of the bands/albums that actually got me into music. super cool people that have made some really cool music. once again, great outro.

THE ROLLING STONES - salt of the earth/paint it black/citadel // last generic answer from hosebeast. SOTE is just great, and kind of sums up the rolling stones' sound during what i consider to be their best period of output entirely. PIB is probably the first time a lot of people, including myself, have heard a sitar, and it's so haunting and cool sounding. no matter how many times i hear it at a bar or party or whatever, it'll never get old. citadel is my favorite song off of my favorite record of theirs. everybody says how satanic majesties is the stones' answer to sgt. pepper, but i think that's bullshit because it was being written and recorded before sgt. pepper even came out. plus, anybody who doesn;t suck knows that it's better in every way.

MGMT IS MY FAVORITE BAND. I MEAN THIS. i can't pick a favorite song, i dunno... i like everything they do a ton. i love that they manage to be so over the top about everything but never obnoxious. (at least to me, i know others would disagree ) i love that they can do so many different sounds so well. i love that their first few shows were really about just trying to be annoying. i love that they can make fucking psychedelic pop with enough mass appeal to be really popular but still make it interesting enough to be worth more than a few listens.

We are Wolves: snare me/teenage bats and anthropology (I'm totally stealing their sound ATM)

Tokyo Police Club: favourite colour (I find it nice when pop-esque things have audible bass)
