i don't know if i'd want to do upright stuff. mainly because my bow game is WEAK.

oh, and it's not for music school. it's just for a scholarship at college. i'd have to join the band and such.

For lyrical "What is and what should never be" Led Zeppelin
For rapid "Run to the Hills" Iron Maiden
For rapid and lyrical "Blackbird' - Jaco Pastorious or "Heart of the Sunrise" Yes (it only took me a month to learn w/the sheet music)

...fukkensteins monster - where's my yesterday answer? Oh well, since I'm used to repeat myself :p

SO - for the lyrical, You could do a renaissance lute piece by a bass guitar. Just omit the singing, and make Your bass really sing.

And do the Sledgehammer, basically, ANYTHING uptempo by Tony Levin will kick ass! [list=][list=]Also, the Achtane suggestion, Merzbow would kick ass and give You a chance to use fuzz on fuzz....

Yeah, dazzle them by playing both bass parts on the intro of "Well I Wonder" simultaneously and then lead it into "Barbarism Begins at Home". If they aren't dancing by then they aren't worth your time anyway.

And it's hella-easy on electric too, if you have good fundamental skills. I always dig classical music on electric bass; some other ideas:

- Eccles Sonata
- Any of the small pieces by Koussevitzky
- Ravel's Pavane pour un Infante Defunte

You could also try something like Stanley Clarke's Lopsy Lu if you did want to bust out some slap bass, since he covers the melody in the line.

Good luck!

Hey, what's the update on this? What did you decide to work up and send in as an audition piece? And, how'd it get received?
