Epiphone Wildkat anyone?

Post by Caesar »

Might be looking for a new guitar. Has anyone played an Epi Wildkat. I don't have a P90 guitar, and the size ad price seem nice

I had one for a couple of years which i eventually sold. they're really nicely-made guitars, with bound fingerboard and f-holes, and sound gorgeous in the right hands. but a lot of people find them difficult to dial in or to relate to...i've seen more than one person say that they never really found the right place for their Wildkat. part of the difficulty may be that the Kat platform looks like a small hollowbody/semi-hollow, but is actually a chambered solid mahogany body with a maple cap and doesn't really behave like either a semi-hollow or a full solid-body. people also complain about the PUs--which on many Wildkats are wound insanely hot, up around 11 or 12K(!) and are pretty blunt compared to most P90s--but i heard several people play my Wildkat who sounded great on it. my Wildkat was a very nice instrument, by far the best quality of my under-$700 electrics, but it just wasn't the right guitar for me. if they appeal to you, they're definitely worth checking out.

I have an unnatural grudge against that guitar. This guy i HATED in hikeschool had one of those. He was one of those doo wop doo wop zombies and stuff rockabilly horror music fruits. Drove a fucking hearse wore bowling shirts and slicked his hair back and shit. I mean this kid actually drove a hearse. Fag. Also he stole my peacoat that was my only heavy jacket and was waaaaaaay too small for his fat ass. Fuck that guy.

Always thought they looked sexy...definitely worth checking out. Hot pickups are always good!
