I am looking for beatdown shortscale student type of guitar right now. Duosonic or Jag rip-offs from the 60-80s and unknown japanese brands or germans. Since I bought one for christmas I am extremely in love with it and I want another one similar for open tunings. Or maybe two more? The more tunings the merrier.

Yup, I'll look out for one of those. A quick search revealed one for 450€ which is way more than I am willing to spend on this. They do look really beautiful though. I'm not so sure about the PU's though. I'd rather have something with single coils. And since the idea was to get one that I can put through shit on stage this will probably be ruled out. I was thinking of something like this. eBay auction. But that one's too much as well. I'll have to wait until some not popular guitar hits the bay and I can pull the trigger for cheap.

My Cyclone II w/ Curtis Novak JAG-V pup's. The only thing I warn you against is that Mexi guitars, especially from early 2000's, are known to have some problems. You can get lucky and get an amazing one just as nice as an American, or you can get not so lucky. Mine had a warped plate in the trem system and I had to replace it; but now it's amazing and I play it more than my AVRI Jazzmaster (which I'm selling now).

Also, I'm GASing hard for a BILT Relevator. I am in the early stages of working with them to have their first short scale model made (24 like a Mustang/Jaguar). Hopefully everything works out and in a few months I will haves one.

I had a similar experience when building a Strat with a MIM body, which required the "genuine" Fender MIM tremolo due to the different spacing of the screw holes. the first tremolo assembly i got was fucked; it was really difficult to set up (even for a Strat trem!) and was awful tonally. after a couple of months i gave up and ordered a second assembly, which was fine.

I got all JagV pickups, with the middle wound opposite. He does offer some other kinds, but they aren't on his website, you have to call and talk to him about it. He has made a mosrite one before, a lipstick one as well as some others.

so i may have to take matters in my hands buy now and get a rick later and i think rick prices are stable as is FUHHH

Working on a custom guitar. Les Paul Special body, Maple neck/fretboard--V/Grabber style headstock. P90 in the bridge, PAF in the neck. Standard pickup switching w/ two tone and volume knobs. With bigsby. Mahogany Body (probably just stain it)...MAYBE finished in tobacco sunburst. Dunno yet.
