Vox vs Fender
Lookin into getting a new amp, I'm just stuck as to which one i want. If i can get the funds together , I'm looking at either an AC30 or a Super Sonic 22. If not It would be an AC15 or a Blues Junior (lookin' at the pgs limited run in red). Have any experience with these? Looking for any opinions on which would be the wiser investment. Needs a scrap of help guys.

Re: Vox vs Fender
Normally, I'd say Fender hands down, but damn - I hate those Super-Sonic amps.
To my ears, they sound terrible. If that's your decision between that and an AC30, go with the AC30 for sure.
As for the Blues Junior, I like them ok, but I think the AC15's sound a bit better. Although I have an obsession with red amps, I still say go with the AC15.
Normally I'm 100% Fender, but in this case, I think that the Voxes that you're looking at might be a bit better to go with.

I don't really know about the Fenders, but I have and ac30 and it sounds amazing.

I agree with Mr. Noise. I own a Fender amp and love Fender, but I just didn't like the clean sound of the Super-Sonic. AC-30s are always a good bet.

Well, in my opinion, none of these are a good value for the money unless they are exactly what you're looking for.
Other than the low wattage and combo form factor, these amps don't really have much in common, so it's a bit hard for me to figure out what exactly it is that you want in an amp...
If you're looking to drop a G note, you'll find you really don't have to compromise much feature-wise.
How about giving us an idea what sounds you're after?

Re: Vox vs Fender
Theres nothing specific that i can point to as a reference for the kind of tone i'm looking for, so i'm fairly useless in that regard. I'm just looking for a nice bright, clear clean sound. The Super Sonic was my initial choice but after trying them both out the AC30 seems to be more so what i'm looking for, unfortunately i can't afford it right now so i'm eye balling the AC15. How do they rake to pedals? Right now i have a Marshall VS100
purchased during a brief and unfortunate foray into punk/metal from my younger years so I'm just excited for something...better. Any suggestions as to other amps i should try out?

Re: Vox vs Fender
Ok, so you're looking for an amp in the $500-$600 range, particularly good for cleans, okay...
DO NOT BUY NEW.
If you don't buy new, you can get something you want with the money you have and not have to "upgrade" later.
If you're in North America, scour the used market for a Silverface Twin or a Bassman Ten. With a bit of luck and patience, you could score a Bandmaster Reverb+cab for that kind of cash. Also keep an eye out for 70's Ampeg and Sunn. I seen plenty of Solarus/Sceptres with matching cabs go for that much. If you're in Canada, Keep an eye out for vintage Traynor, Garnet, Lifco and Harmony.
My $0.02, dude.
Patience and thrift.

Re: Vox vs Fender
i try my best to buy used, and i've been scouring for a good sunn (head or cab) and a used twin for ages, problem is, I live in Newfoundland. The market for used gear here is crap, and since im on an island on the far east of the western world everything is just that much harder to get. I troll ebay and other sites for used gear, but i wouldn't want to invest too much of my meager income (im a poor student) without being able to give it a try myself.

Hmm. Yeah. I just checked St John's Craigslist... Pretty dire indeed.
I did however find this:
http://stjohns.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell ... Z236406391
This looks like a typical Canadian stencil amp. I'm not sure it's actually a Garnet, though. It's extremely similar to my Lifco Model 1000 (Which is a godamn beast)
Chances are it's gone but cool stuff does seem to come up, every now and then.
Honestly, if that's still available, It's definitely worth checking out. I'd try to deal him down to $450 and rip those dumb-ass Squier (WHY??) badges off of there!
