Here is an entertaining appearance of Nicolas Slonimsky on The Tonight Show from 1986. He's 92 here, but still on top of his game and a pretty hilarious smart ass. He also plays piano with an orange.

Cool, I only know him from the thesaurus of scales, don't have any sense of the person at all. Will investigate!
