Moose Nomad

Post by Adoom »

I picked one of these up a few months ago. I live near Moose and he let me try one out because I wasn't sure which one of his fuzzes to get, which one would fit with the stuff I'm working on. I had it for about 8 seconds before I was like... yeah. Yeah thats for me. That's what I like.

The unit is super versatile, but I'm a find-a-main-sound sort, more than some starship navigator. In finding that sound though, I made some woolly, shrieky, beefy discoveries. The main tone I settled on (though that octave switch really gets some use) I've been using for noise based leads, more traditional syrupy fare and (as I discovered when I left it on by accident) a riff with large thick, chordal moments against lots of open strings. I haven't played that part any other way since.

Really a gem. Heck of a nice fella to boot. Really can't recommend his work enough. Theres talk of him doing a demo of a whole board of his with some local noisemongers like myself.

I delightedly await and fiscally rue the day. :joy:
I play.

I hadn't seen that one, recently bought a Moose Cosmic Trigger and am super impressed by that. For many years my octave fuzz has just been whatever fuzz, plus an Upper. Buuuut that Nomad looks pretty intriguing with the tonal options. Most tempting octave fuzz I can think of.

i wish i'd been aware of the Nomad during my recent Search For Ugly Fuzz. i love the 3699 which is a clone of the original TM, but it could really use some tone sculpting to achieve maximum aggression and impact.

edit: or maybe i do. can't tell from their in-house demos which are the only ones available. i need to know what it sounds like with the clean blend 100% off, Fuzz at 100%, and sweeping the tone controls. they seem obsessed with the octave function which admittedly does work better than the 3699 but which is entirely irrelevant to my existence...i only ever use the octave switch on the 3699 by mistake. i want the biggest fattest shark-tooth tone possible.

Yeah, I'm talking to him about some one off things, I really am looking forward to the day I get to run through everything he makes,, but I cant see myself wanting another fuzz, this one just does everything I like, really really well. Heartily, heartily recommended.

It does rippin' stuff really well. I'll put together something for you. Clean blend off, sweep the fuzz, if you like.
I play.

If he's willing to do custom stuff, I like the way he describes his Electric Elk Muff and I always want to pair a Muff with a Rat in front so a twosome with the Rat part of his Battlehammer might make me very happy.

He's more than willing to do custom stuff. He's going to make an overdrive for me, and we've been talking delays. If you talk to him, tell him ol' Doomy sent you.
