i [used to] head straight for the CP every time i walked into a music store - something about all that old skool big boy piana sound coming out of that lickle casioey chassis

I'm very intrigued by the CP. Looks like my bag and could replace my microkorg as I rarely use it for like WILD SYNTH SOUNDS and would perhaps get on more happily get by with CP+pedals/modules. On the other hand, don't fix it if it ain't broke.

Thoughts on the NerdSeq ? I am looking at Nerdseq, Hermod and Black sequencer. The first downside I can see is you need the expander to play midi in but that still would cost around the same as the erica.

I think the 3 can do glide, not sure hermod can do envelopes but I think nerdseq and black sequencer can... So much to consider :whoa:

I think I'd be using this in a traditional songwriting kind of approach so maybe one would be better for that ?

Any obvious downsides or upsides to it?

upside is probably being able to do anything.
downside is you're tied to that screen/interface, if that's a downside for you.
Haha being able to do anything sounds good to me.
The interface sure is not the more obvious at first sight but I guess you get used to it ? You know if it can do unquantized stuff ? Like not perfectly on grid ? Like hermod and the erica black sequencer

Trackers are their own thing and you should probably get acquainted with them elsewhere before dropping big on a euro one.

I'm still heavily gassing over the Erica Black Sequencer, it has a great balance of immediate features and depth, as well as a really robust randomization tool to get you started. And really at some point when you are looking at module with so many features you need a screen, else they become a whole ass nightmare. Just look at the original Disting.

on the NerdSeq - if you haven't used trackers a bunch and/or don't LOVE them... i would noooot recommend that as your first. it's amazingly powerful, but fiddly to get around (and get your head around) as a first step into tracker based sequencing. the Polyend Tracker feels the most intuitive and easy to slide into for that?

and i haven't had a NerdSeq for awhile, but it didn't do unquantized. it DID go to so fine a grid it can definitely get the same feel.

Black looks GOOD, but haven't used.

Hermod... so. i like the Squarp Pyramid a lot. it's crazy how much it can do and has a lot of unique approaches and features. annnnnd it's still a bitch to use unless you're in it deeeeep like a butt every single day. i only played with friend's Hermods, and fuck me. no. no no no no no NO. so. much. no. all the idiosyncrasies of the Pyramid SORT of work with the desktop box form factor, no NO NO NOOOOOO in the Hermod module size.

just my opinions. i have a bud that loves his Hermod. but he's an adorably special guy?

Reface - fuck me. it sounds SO buttery good. so far i adore the Rhodes 01 (i'm not a huge Historical Synth Knowledge Human, the less plinky EP sound), the Wurlitzer and the Toy Piano are my favorites. worth it just to have a huge sounding yummy EP in the first setting alone.

lol. and yes. tiny things with big sounds ROKK.

You guys need to stop selling me on a Reface CP. I really don't need one, but I want some of those classic piano sounds in my setup...

^ Sold my electric piano because I wasn't using it. But damn I wish having piano sounds accessible without turning on my PC and loading a plugin.

Almost posted this in the thread for gas but figured it was as much appropriate here.

Just received Abastract data A-50 3x VCA. Ordered a doepfer A100-LC3V.
Wanted a single big case but figured I'd buy this and keep the two 4ms pods I have. Brings me up to 176hp. I now have enough space for a sequencer (and more modules, like envelopes for example) once I figure which one I want and have some more cash.

My setup now looks like this (don't have the castor yet and the ho layout is different but yeah essentially this is it)

yeppers. that's why i grabbed one. i suck at keys, but it sounds so good it makes even Blind Key Stabbing sound awesome.

and into the MicroCosm? so much fun. love how it becomes something to play with and against.

but yes. the APPEAL is just sitting down and noodling without launching Live, loading a soft synth, routing the keys or Push to it. just... Noodle Town.

Any builders/DIYers here interested in building a ResEQ? Maybe doing a run of them for the forum?

I built eurorack modules, but mostly for myself, sorry. I've not built any Serge/RandomSource stuff yet, because it seems very expensive. But they are very cool modules for sure.. open source would be nice :D

I got the Doepher quad VCA, and I can finally get the drone to shut up if I want. That is pretty cool. Also 4 VCAs in 8hp for like 120€ or so is a GOOD deal.
