Please check out my new release, a split cassette with Too Hands called HOUSEHOLD GOD PROTECTION. Lots of modular and other electronic bits were used in the creation of these recordings.

I talk to Too Hands A LOT about sequencing stuff. Very excited for this!

Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, I love his music a lot + the piece he dropped on this cassette is tops. I hope you enjoy!

I summon BEHNDY and anyone else who has used Kala Goañv.

What's the Kala Goañv filter thing like? Does it distort good? I don't want a bunch of wah wah effects but like the idea of filter / distortion in one, kind of like the Viol Ruina (which rules to me) from N.E.

Back-story. I would like an interesting filter to use with a Plaits and / or Drum Boy. Distortion or other oddities are welcome. Right now I have a Doepfer A-103 in there which is great but also... meh?

lol. i've actually never had that one. from Tousky i've only had the germanium feedback distorting, the single channel and the the three channel mixer versions.

how big do you want to go? my favorite is the Altar if you want mono, Neutron Flux if you want more range, more dirt, and stereo.

Casper/Bastl Dark Matter is BANANAS, but kinda hard to tame?

Regarding distortion-things:
Filter-fm/feedback (try audio signals, even hat or bassdrum sounds into your FMin, versus normal modulation signals like VCO/LFO?etc)
Also wavefolders are great distortion-like things (love the Nonlinearcircuits dual wavefolder, stack them/feedback), L1 Tube VCA, Plankton Nutone are great

Thanks for these suggestions. Hadn't heard of the L1 or Plankton before; they look sick. I'll definitely try to pound out the FM input of the filter with some sonics later today.

I'm going to have to try to patch something similar with my Werkstatt, Strega, and No Ctrl

lol. well SHIT. it's like NE was spying on you. if you have one of the Versio modules, they just released two new firmwares -

Ruina Versio: a stereo distortion like you’ve never heard: it’s actually a stack of distortion, filtering, and mangling tools that can be rerouted and CV’d to completely destroy any sound you run through it — in a good way, of course. This is the first time that the infinifolder featured on oscillators like the BIA can be used to process external signals. Plus, there’s a Smoosh button and a DOOM knob. Doesn’t get any better than that, does it?

Ruina Versio will be available as a dedicated hardware module as well.

Electus Versio: the clocked companion to Desmodus, by popular request! We rethought the delay structure to allow for longer, more distorted, and more focussed tails that worked with time-syncing. It also has its own flavor, and we’ve found ourselves switching back and forth between Desmodus and Electus when we want some atmosphere in our patches.

sounds HAWT. gonna load them up tonight, i do like the delay more than the reverb and loooove clocked delays.

hehe. Yes! All of that sounds rad but I do not have the requisite module(s) at hand.

For now I'm using a duKRPLS to process bass from the Tea Kick + noise from the Noise Tools. It sounds weird as hell.

pffffffft. using things you already have fully to explore tonal possibilities instead of being seduced by New SHINY and buying ALL THE THINGS?

what even ARE you.

Does the duKRPLS processes sound? I've only used it to generate sounds.. to the lab!

Oh man, so I plugged my guitar, a high strung Gretsch Gin Rickey, into Strega today and it was wonderful! I was able to add so much ambience with the delay and filter and then I started mixing in some of the oscillator using the envelope follower to control the activation. The way I had it set up just gave me a bit of a drone to play over, but I'm thinking I might have to invest in some kind of pitch tracking module to expand on this (likely just a Disting, unless anyone has any better recommendations?)

disting is fairly solid for tracking single notes in my experience (though you know don't expect midi pickup perfection lol). Never tried anything else. :idk:

Yeah that was my experience way back with Disting mk1. I didn't play with the pitch tracker too much, but it worked well enough.

I have actually been thinking I might grab a black panel Maths if I can find one at a good price. Maths was one of the first modules I owned and one that I actually probably miss the most from back then. It's just so simple and intuitive, but you can patch it to make some of the most complicated ways
