Re: New Pedal: EHX Freeze
Got mine today.
Together with the Pigtronix Philosopher King.
Great stuff and a lot of fun.
Together with my PTD Double Fudge I got some cool backpipe sounds out of them all.
The Freeze is simply a great drone tool that will stay on my board for a while.

Man, I envy you. Do one of those whammy sweeps on the mothership and freeze it at some ponit. I bet you'll get some ring mod tones.

Re: New Pedal: EHX Freeze
Does the infinite button on the EHX Cathedral serve the same purpose as the Freeze pedal or is it something similar but different?
Thanks!

I don't own a freeze (yet) so I'm just going by the demo videos, but the cathedral(do own) is not as smooth to my ears. The cathedral is closer to a boss dd3 in hold mode, but blended with the reverb. The latch mode on the freeze is the most useful part, I think. I really like the idea of being able to set it and have my feet free to do other things.
Hey, when is someone going to buy 20 of these and make some ultra drone? I at least want to hear what happens if you freeze a freeze.

I've got one, and have been using for my drone/noise/whatever project - it's pretty damn awesome. I used to have to go through all kinds of convoluted processes to get decent drones on my own... now I just click on the freeze and go! It's pretty spectacular...
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Cool! Thanks for the info. This just confirms my suspicion that I need both pedals!

I also have not played the Freeze, but I tried to see if my Cathedral could get close. It indeed does sound somewhat similar, but not quite the same.
I think they are both worth having.

This is the reason I've been looking at it. Might be time to pull out the CC and place an order...

So wait, why not spend another 10 bucks and get a delay and chorus functions on your hold with one of these? http://www.zcatpedals.com/?dir=view&id=20090818221315WbN9

I'm not that big a fan of swiss army pedals (even though I have an H20 delay/chorus that I use regularly). The "it does one thing, and one thing only" bit really helps a lot in terms of switching stuff in and out between my band pedalboard and my church pedalboard (and yessir, I use effects in church).
