Currently watching Raise by Wolves on HBO.
It's weird as fuck but interesting, too.

Miraculously lately i have been able to watch some movies after a long period.

New boart: stopped halfway. boooooooring. I see what he's doing and why he's doing it, but speaking about the plot, the rhythm just isn't there imo.
Blackkklansman: i really enjoyed it, overallgood acting and some brilliant dialogues, but my favorite thing has been the montage of two particular scenes comparing what was happening in the KKK and in the black panthers movement simultaneously.

then i've re-re-re-rewatched Akira after too much time and it's just as good as the first time.

Blackkklansman was great! I also loved that scene! I also loved when he took the chance to mess with them like the polaroid and the prank call!

My fiancee wanted to watch a scary movie for Halloween (she normally hates scary movies), so we went through my list on Netflix and ended up deciding on In the Tall Grass. Wish I read some reviews first. It was really boring and not at all scary. 90% of the movie is just them calling each others name and close-ups of grass. We ended up turning it off.

Started watching Good Omens too. Enjoying that so far

Blackkklansman was excellent! Seems like Spike Lee is on a real roll at the moment.

Good Omens was pretty good!

Speaking of Lee, Da 5 Bloods is the next one I want to watch, read some mixed reviews about it but generally I like his directing style - haven't watched his Old Boy remake though, I am a bit skeptical considering the high level of the original.

That's what I meant about being on a roll. ;) Da 5 Bloods is great! Definitely recommend it.

uhhhhh i would skip Old Boy. not horrible, but not good. felt like Brolin had no idea how he was supposed to act and the antagonist character was.... kinda awful.

Sam Jackson was great in it though?

BlackKklansman was AWESOME. 5 Bloods i only got about 20 minutes into before i got distracted with something else. need to go back.

i like Spike a lot. the bank caper with Denzel Washington and Clive Owen was really good. Inside Man i think?

Inside Man is really good compared to a lot of other heist movies.

Totally unrelated but because of this discussion yesterday I re-watched Old Boy (the original). Honestly I didn't remember at all the horrible 3d effects  but besides that, still an amazing movie.

I saw that on my birthday that year, as break from packing up 10+ years of detritus in our nyc apartment, a week before we had to vacate and move to VT. Honestly remember nothing about it other than thinking that reclining movie seats would be the only thing I'd miss about manhattan.

But still, it's Sam Jackson! Even when he's not great, he's always watchable and a good time. I can't think of a single Sam Jackson picture I wouldn't happily rewatch, if only to make fun of how it compares to his or his costars better work - Freedomland?! wtf happened on that picture, but it's still watchable.
