I paid retail for a Pretty Years, which I later traded straight for a No Memory, which I later traded for a RKM Tonal Recall, which I sold.

I regret everything about that sequence of events.

Boss PS-2, $70 plus tax and shipping: https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Boss/ ... t-Pedal.gc

I haven’t felt the -2’s siren song, but I know some of you are into it. What am I missing?

I lent mine to a singer/guitarist oinks ago b/c her delay broke. It's a fine delay. I used to use it for Jon Hassell-in-a-box, but that's me. The brilliance of the thing is in its crunchy lofiness, yes, but a chromatic (edit: continuous/non-quantized) pitch shifter with feedback? :joy: :omg: :!!!: the og rainbowmachina.

Octave down fonkstomp and barely shifted subliminachorus are there too, if that floats yer bark. everyone's got a fave Boss - this one happens to be mine. :trippy: Nice price :snax:

The PS2 has some weirdness because the pitch is tunable rather than fixed to intervals. The original setup was that you used a tuner on the tuner out to set the note you wanted. If you set it to a few cents up on down it does wild laser noises!

PS-2 has a unique (in my collection) delay sound where the low end is rolled off so the repeats get thinner and more tinny. It’s all over the early Slowdive records.

But, yeah, the secret sauce is the continuous pitch-shifting controls. There are absolutely rainbow sounds when it’s tuned just sharp or flat of the root note.

Bonus prize: You can run a patch cable from the tuner out to the input and make a freaky, tunable monophonic synth tone source.

Here's a couple for the tabletop/modular folks.

This ebay seller has the Analogue Solutions Dr. Strangelove echo ring mod, and Mr. Hyde modulating filter at £99 and £119 respectively. (£169 regular) User ID is "asuk-synth" so that might actually just be Analogue Solutions clearing them out. I ordered both.

KOMA Elektronik has the RH301 – Rhythm Work Station at €199 (€399 regular)
