Hmmm...
We have great beaches. They’re better for people who like nature and a high chance of rain than people who want to swim or sunbathe or look at people in swimsuits. I’ve never seen an elk on the beach, but there’s a lot of spots where it’s easy to see a bunch of elk. You’re not gonna want to try and pet them. I don’t know you or anything, but I’d be down to have a beer if you come here. Maybe if I had some free time, which never happens, I’d be down for a drive to the coast for an afternoon.

Oregon coast!

..and wind, cold wet wind.

There's an elk viewing area a bit inland on 126 if memory serves. Plus there is or was a cool diner on 101 that only took cash.

I too would be up for hanging out, grabbing a beer & making some noise; if you're in the area.

do not miss the Cascade Mountains in OR. very pretty, and much less crowded than the Sierra Nevada. Crater Lake is lovely, but can be quite busy in the warm season. and there are a couple of excellent natural areas in eastern OR which I've been to, but can't recall details of offhand.

@Crochambeau - Oh we're meeting up at some point and I am inviting myself to a "workspace" tour. It might not be this year or next... it will happen while I live on this planet though.
@misterstomach - I really appreciate that Sir! I'm flakey as fuck though so I doubt I actually do it. So if the stars align and 1. I actually make the trip 2. You have free time... we should journey! I won't pet the deer. I don't like to invade animals personal space. The most invasive I get is take videos and ask, "If they're having a good time." I have about 40 videos of me asking deer in town this very questions, 1 of a beaver/groundhog, and 1 of a black beer (at a very safe distance and in my car). I know you don't know me but if you read my 5000 something posts... I can assure you I am a lot less zanny and a lot more boring that I seem

Oregon adventure "tentative" and TBD.
In case I miss it. Happy New Year (New Decade!) guys! @Olin -> Doing my predictable New Year's plans of holding down the fort at Job #2. I know you relate.

I passed three Moo Moo Cow farms on my way to my Grandma's house today. I saw like 50 cows today. She doesn't even live in a rural area. One far quite literally had a PROCESSION of cows! I was like they were following the North Star or something.

Cows always follow the North Star to their ancestral home. Once there, they mate, spawn, and die, only to be reincarnated as something even more wondrous.
