Fourth season of Preacher airs this year. I'd like to binge watch the whole series whenever I can... I liked what I watched before we cut cable out, but it didn't seem nearly as fun as the comics. Then again, Ennis has a habit of creating just absolutely ridiculous shit, so, not surprised it has to be changed for a broader audience.

yah. i mean. a lot of Preacher The Comic doesn't hold up for me anyways. a bit too Celebrate The Quintessentially Macho Man He Can Even Order God Around OH WOW HE'S EVEN FROM TEXAS THE REAL TEXAS 80's feeling dated. but the overall concept modernized a bit? i'm listening.

super excited about a final season of Legion. that's probably my favorite super hero series yet. just amazebutts. would love a reason to binge through it again, would love a concise designed arc not a shuffling Lost style WHAT THE FUCK DO WE DO NOW elongated mess.

heh. ELONGATED.

I broke a superhero movie/show boycott and checked out The Boys. I'll admit, it was hard to turn off. The gratuitous sex/violence BS is the only disappointing thing about it, but that's true for most shows these days.

Karl Urban definitely stole the show, and I liked how the actor playing Homelander could convincingly switch on and off, and even when he was smiling he could be ominous. I also wish Maeva got a bit more attention, it felt like even Mesmr got more.

Is it? I have no background on the franchise... watching it without context.

From what I've seen so far I'd have guessed the hook was showing supers in a realistic way - seeing what such power and fame does to us.

Basically, replace them with world leaders, billionaires, and super celebs, and it's straight up reality. hah... ugh

lol. oh yeah. he is NOT a fan of the superhero archetype.

you are correct suh. tearing down the idea that someone would be "good" just because they have powers is super unrealistic. humans have shown it would defo go the other direction.

but yeah. shock value/super gruesome violence/amazingly offensive acts done casually was a big part of the makeup of the print series.

That's really anything he's ever done that's been popular. Preacher, The Boys, Crossed, Punisher MAX, Hellblazer... He's made the rounds.

I watched three episodes of Another Life on NF, completely mystified with what the hell was going on and how stupid it was.
Then I switched over to Amazon to watch The Boys and the night got much better.

Netflix canceled The OA. Weirdchamps. Both seasons were super enjoyable, even if they both ended kind of half-assed.
