Iron deficiency leading to compulsive consumption of lead paint is no joke.

he was good on the early Captain Beefheart and "Memo From Turner," though. and i like his weirdball Strat adaptations. but as far as his career, i only ever liked him with the band that included Flaco Jimenez and the black male backing vocalists. Rebecca Black would have sounded good with that band.

Is that the actual name of the band? Because if it isn't, it should be. :thumb:

Yeah, no arguments from me that Cooder's overrated.

Especially mad  that he's inspired people to yank pickups out of perfectly good ol' Teiscos just to throw 'em in Strats. :wha?:

Wow--the takes. I don't think bro deserves much opprobrium. My personal take is, everything up to Get Rhythm has something worthwhile on it. The soundtrack stuff was a bit too ubiquitous for awhile, but repetitive consumption of soundtracks sans the films they were designed to support is a caveat emptor activity afaic....

The biggest objection I've had to his latter day stuff is that it doesn't match up to the first eleven. I do find the fawning sycophants to be objectionable in excelsis--the idea that he's some kind of ethnomusicolgical godsend is laughable. It's just not that hard to find out about blues/rag/danzon/calypso/whataveyou on your lonesome, without Uncle Ry holding your hand. I think recency bias effects some folks perception/memory re: how in the past it was a lit more work to fish that stuff out than today, but still, I remember more than one NPR scenester getting up my nose with their wide-eyed wake-up call for me to check out BVSC. Not super cool to shoot the messenger, though, imo. He was always better than most in those days about crediting, collaborating with, paying and promoting his sources and inspirations :idk:

Also, re: dat Coodercaster--monkey don't need no stick
Hack that, merhumblegrumble :oldrant:

1) that looks like patched drywall
2) I don't think he understands 'relic':
It has a a chip in the finish that was repaired but is really not noticable.
