Blackout Effectors

Post by lost in music »

I guess Blackout has been functionally gone for the past two years or so. There is an unhappy customer complaint on their Facebook dating back to about that time. The only thing on the blackout twitter are retweets to enter contests to win free firearms. And his insta had some pics from the gym for a while, although those have been deleted.

But I went to check something on blackouteffectors.com and the domain name expired a couple weeks ago. Since the Twosome is a fuzz that I have gone back to a few times, this bums me out. I definitely will be hanging onto the one I have now. I think BitchPudding or someone used one for a while as well.

Also, Kyle used to pop in here from time to time as a hosted builder and was really nice about answering questions. Since they're not on the ILF Hosted Pedal Builders board anymore, are all those old threads just gone now? Not sure how that works.

I hope he's doing well - has anybody heard from him?
This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

This makes me sad too. They made the best big muff variant ever.

Plus the Fuzz Bear and Fix'd Fuzz are both legit as well.

Fixd fuzz is awesome. I think that was the 2nd boutique pedal I ever bought.

The Musket was my first favorite fuzz and I still love it.

Didn't really care for the oscillating bleepyness of the fuzz bear. Got lured in by the "tone bender" reference in the sales pitch and the cool graphics, was expecting something more straight forward and vintage'y. My bad I guess.

Anyway, I went through countless muffs before I tried the musket. The first one I tried that managed to balance out the eq issue I always have with muffs as well as the lack of gain that doesn't just fizz out.

Come to think of it, I flipped it for the lamest reason. Too many useless controls

My Whetstone is one of my never-get-rid-of pedals. Loved every Blackout pedal I tried. Plus Kyle was always helpful. May have to replace the Musket I traded off a few years ago since they may become hard to come by.

Are we on bizarro ILF now? Everything's all backwards.

The Whetstone is a phaser benchmark. I absolutely love mine. So many cool features that I love tweaking. I never truly clicked with the Musket and wound up flipping mine but I’ve just found muff variants I’ve bonded with more. Anyway, didn’t realize they were no longer in business - RIP, all the best, etc....

Didn't know they were out of business, feel bad for Kyle.
Got the Twosome and the Whetstone on board for at least 3 years, still miss the Whetsone for its high tweakability.
Never bounded with the Musket but aLways loved the Fix'd Fuzz, it had tons of volume and a really nice attack overall.
