Yeah, I feel like Charlie’s character was still being developed in Season 1.

The show changed over the years. It was pitched about actors in LA. FX said it was boring. Changed to bar owners in Philly and got the green light. Ratings went down, FX kinda thrust Devito on 'em which changed the dynamic. The more outlandish the show got early on, the more press they got. They just ran with that and it kind of got old.

I see it as more of Charlie being exposed (all the characters really). Kind of a long downward spiral.

I like it for being outlandish and silly though and a lot of my favourite stuff is after they integrated Devito into the group dynamic (and changed all the characters into more ridiculous people). :idk:

It definitely had a very different vibe when it was more grounded in the beginning.

Finished Russian Doll today, really enjoyed the whole show! Hope they don't ruin it with a pointless second season

For sure, I like the over the top stuff too. Kinda like the highs are better and their lows miss way harder though. A few of the later episodes I've caught over the years were near unwatchable (the cruise ship and Jersey shore ones come to mind)...but some of the most memorable episodes are post Devito.

Definitely with you on this. Before they got really out there it's all good. Becomes much more hit and miss later on, with the last few seasons being extremely that way, and more misses.

last season was p good i thought, the one prior was their weakest imo. it was the first one where i thought "oh maybe they're running out of steam" but the last one was enough of a shakeup to get me back on board.

Love, Death, and Robots is great so far! Only two episodes in so far, but they were both pretty awesome! I read that a lot of it stems from the male gaze (the first episode for sure), but so far it has been pretty interesting at least (says the white male viewer...)

Jesus, how many times can I say "so far" in three sentences? Really need to start proof reading a little better

After Life has turned out to be a pretty good show.
About 3 episodes in. Just something about Ricky Gervais being a dick to regular clueless people really appeals to me, for some reason.

I started that the other night but wrote it off for lack of humor. The characters seem pretty normal/boring. Maybe I'll give it another try.

Yeah, the ending was a bit too feel good.
After all the shit he did during the show and he just, becomes normal? That's not what I want. I want another season of him being a shit.

Binged the rest last night which isn't saying much since it's only 6 short episodes. Lazy British show makers... lol. Pretty mediocre overall. He's really repeating himself a lot - same cast of actors, same catalog of rants about religion, animals, charity workers, etc...

lol. his strawman anti-religion arguments in shows.... i mean. i agree with him. but. they're a bit.... forced. and obvious.

i guess it's not the BEST thing he's done, but i like him a lot. and there were a lot of parts that made me tear up thinking about how empty i would be if something happened to my wife.

Triple Frontier is Very Bad Things + Lone Survivor and between the two in its mediocrity.
