Yass--Monobius is more versatile even without carrier in, but that puts it over the top

Fun fact dandolin, if you do have both, you could also try to use the or’s internal theremin as the carrier for the Monobius since it has the carrier in. Just don’t plug an input into the or. Plug its output into the carrier input. When you remove an input on the OR it activates the theremin alone to use. May be cool, idk

Sweet, thx--will try that (don't have a Monobius yet, but I think I can borrow one
) That is one helluvan easter egg.
Loving the Optical Ring! Really unique and highly useable/useful/musical/gnarly. Also, both dead simple and quite flexible given the focused control scheme.
Also also, the knob on mine is the sexiest, most conciousness altering knob I've ever turned. I feel like the yugeness somehow contributes to easier fine adjustments.
Even loving the fuzz with the ringmod blended out--kinda thick and dry at the same time
A++

Glad you like it. Yeah, I think my love of DBA stuff fuels super simple control layouts. I also want to try the monobius sometime. I have two of his tetanus boosters I love them so much

This is where I fall flat a lot of times, especially with the Monobius.dminner wrote:super simple control layouts
I was going to suggest splitting the input and driving both the O ring and Monobius from the same source and then feeding the modulated output of the O ring into the carrier input of the Monobius, but it sounds like that will just have to wait.
I'm also eager to check out/procure an O ring, I'll pester you about a possible trade once I've worked through my back-log in the receding winter depression.dminner wrote:I also want to try the monobius sometime.
I have a fun one in store for this thread, but first things first as always.

Also, I got no problem with the control scheme on the Monobius.
Also, also, you two get a room

There is another thing RMA is making for the frequency shifter.
I've still gotta edit my monobius video for the tourbox thread (I used mine instead of the tourbox one to keep it movin').
Optical ring 1 and 2 are fun, dminner! I like 'em a lot. I just haven't been playing much lately.

How many ring mods have presets AND can get into tremolo territory? I basically want a Randy's Revenge with presets. I guess I could just get a RR and accept that I'll have to tweak between songs. Or just get a separate tremolo. But the tremolo settings in Randy sound SO good.

Sounds like a job for Chase Bliss Audio.
Tremolo on Randy's Revenge is really great.
Are you just wanting to change the speed of the tremolo? If that's the case, will using an expression pedal work for you?
Ring mods with a range control can usually do tremolo. They don't all sound as good as Randy's Revenge though.
Multi-effects units which have ring mod functions where you can set the parameters probably have presets.
They also probably don't sound as good as Randy's Revenge. I can't really think of anything else with presents. Although, someone else probably will.

EHX Ring Thing and...I think that's it. It's digi, but/so it does a tonne of tricksy things, including pitch shift and sync, whammy trem, single-side band etc....
Tonally, it's on the sweet and clean side like Randy's but definitely not as warm. Has yer presets. I like it, but not as much as Randy's.

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
If they have exp, CV, or carrier in, they have the possiblity of presets.
Any ring mod with a carrier in. Just run a tap tempo lfo and another oscillator on an a/b switch.
Better yet, run a sample player like the electrofaustus ef114 as one carrier and copilot on the other. You can then cycle through waveform carrier presets/samples that repeat ("oscillate") then switch to LFO with tap tempo.
ZVex ringtone has a step mode. You have as many presets as there are steps.
Hexe Carrier has ramping and presets.
Hax has footswitchable hi/lo frequency. (Iirc elta too)
If they have CV control or exp control over the carrier rate, make a two pot switch box to flip flop between settings.
And ring thing...i don't vibe with that thing though.
There is always the zoom magicstomps. It's got a ring mod and trem and slicer and even a kinda glitchy delay.

this makes me miss Randy's a lot, never thought i could use the CV in for this.
in the last weeks i'm enjoying a lot playing with loops and the ring mod/bitcrusher sections of the good old BItquest (random example poorly recorded:https://bit.ly/2BWB8Di), but - and sorry if i say it again - i'm missing mi Randy's A LOT
