Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Synth gas is back, and the local pawn has a Microbrute I can get for $140 out the door, or a Monologue for like $180...I like the price of the brute better, but I'm leanign towards the monologue. Help me.
They have a Volca Kick and Akai MPK mini too (which is just a controller though)

Monologue because motion sequence, microtuning and presets.Jero wrote:Synth gas is back, and the local pawn has a Microbrute I can get for $140 out the door, or a Monologue for like $180...I like the price of the brute better, but I'm leanign towards the monologue. Help me.

Mhmm, leaning towards the monologue...but you may be onto something there with the new stuff. I think I saw people mention no pitch transpose with the new Minilogue though? Seems kind of whack. I may be thinking of something else? That Microfreak Arturia looks fun too!tremolo3 wrote:Monologue because motion sequence, microtuning and presets.Jero wrote:Synth gas is back, and the local pawn has a Microbrute I can get for $140 out the door, or a Monologue for like $180...I like the price of the brute better, but I'm leanign towards the monologue. This would be my first actual synth...well other than the microkorg I had years ago which I never really figured out

Yeah, you're right. Monologue does that, so no worries in there.Jero wrote: Mhmm, leaning towards the monologue...but you may be onto something there with the new stuff. Monologue also seems a great idea for a first synth, that sequencer is good and really intuitive, also the drive was goood.
There's people in YouTube doing amazing stuff with it, I wish I was that clever to discover those on my own lol.

Yea I think I'll take the plunge and go grab it today. Hopefully it's still there. I've been watching a lot of videos, and like you said, there are some really good ones. Most of them involve another synth or drum machine, which adds to the gas...and then I remember, oh wait I have an old zoom rhythmtrak!tremolo3 wrote:Monologue also seems a great idea for a first synth, that sequencer is good and really intuitive, also the drive was goood.

I also have to keep telling myself, that these people actually now how to play keys, so my experiences will be different and slow

Did you get it? That’s a good price and it’s a great synth. The only mono I even remotely considered holding on to.

I love it when a plan (i.e. a silly idea) comes together.
I can't remember what I was looking for, but while I was looking for something my eyes spotted an extremely underused bit of kit that I've had for years, namely a Zoom MRT-3B (drum machine).
"What does it sound like through all those daft pedals of yours?" I hear you ask.
Magnificent*.

I hardly know what I'm doing but the hour or so I fucked with it the other night was pretty entertaining. Any tips/tricks/presets you liked?

From an ad for the Sonicake 5th Dimension digi multimod pedlol:
"Picture this: during one particular gig, you need a phaser for covering Pink Floyd's Breathe; then a chorus for playing the riff of The Police's Message In A Bottle; finally a flanger for rocking out the opening intro of RATM's Killing In The Name."
don't think I'm the target market
Who is the target market?

Been a while since I heard a cover band I guess
I didn't think there'd be one cover-band audience that'd be psyched to hear those three songs in a set.

Orange County/Anaheim Hills. That's where the party's at.
Throw in some Fleetwood Mac and Nightranger and you'll get one free drink from that winking drunk over there.
