Dc jack is for sure an easy fix. Even throwing a washer around the existing hole would work. Or silicone it tight.

Pics of the insides would help whoever was looking to rehouse it out

The builder who makes these usually seems to offer up both styles. I'm honestly surprised he's still using batteries, but if you're going for a dying battery sound...I can get it then.
