has anyone changed/fixed a switch on an MXR time delay?

Post by bedtime_ »

this thing?

it's got such a dumb switch, kind of like the mechanism on a click pen? with a spring and all that. I have one that works but the mechanism is a bit sticky and powering the pedal off basically never works. opening the switch to clean/lube it up seems impossible. any ideas?

Rehouse it!

Why does it seem impossible to clean the switch? (I've never opened up one of these)

Don't use wd40. Only use contact cleaner on the jacks, and deoxit lube for any other contacts (footswitch and pots)

Some Deoxit should take care of that.

Another thing to consider is just buying another one. Especially since they're relatively inexpensive. :idk: The switch on it is likely to develop the same problem though. :( That's been my experience with Eighties pedals of this ilk.

You might also try sticking it a bypass loop. Probably the easiest solution.
