Yeah, that is something that is way too common with synth demos.... I usually just end up listening to this kind of demo while looking at a manual or something....

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I've found myself wanting a baritone recently...
Think I'll try out a lighter set of strings on the bass VI and tune to a-a first.
But I also kind of want to combine this with my desire to make a parts tele

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
A friend of mine has a baritone tele his brother made and is very happy with that.
Ash body (Fender I think), maple neck (Warmoth?), Lollar sc/P90. Sounds, looks and plays great!

That sounds cool!!
So I tried shifting the A string of my VI to the E etc and tuned it to A standard, and I love it! Think this may have solved my baritone problem and my dissatisfaction with the bass VI problem all in one go.

I thought the Antigua squire Baritone was decent. The neck is pretty great, same as the VI. Shitty dano bridge. But played nicely. Pickup switch in an awful spot.coldbrightsunlight wrote:That sounds cool!!

I was looking at the squier but then when I saw it was the same scale as the VI I thought why bother when I have the VI and don't love playing it as a bass anyway.

I have a 30” tele currently tuned to G# standard with dual QP bridge pickups and it’s pretty sick.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I've been playing synth a fair bit yesterday and really want a minilogue now... The microkorg is cool but it's pretty basic, involves a bit of menu diving to change parameters, and is full of ridiculous trance presets I never touch.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Ok, but the MK is actually deeper than the ML (4 slot mod matrix, 2 lfos, 2 envelopes, assignable mod wheel, vocoder) and there's no actual "menu diving." Just turn big knob and then turn the small knobs. ML has a few bells and whistles (recordable note sequence, motion seq, better keys) but doesn't have that much in the way of modulation and there IS actual menu diving on that tiny (but beautiful) screen. Definitely erase all the horrible presets -- shift, 3, shift to init a patch.coldbrightsunlight wrote:I've been playing synth a fair bit yesterday and really want a minilogue now... Totally understand why the ML is/was a big deal and why people want it. I used to too, before I played one, but the sound just left me flat. YMMV IMHO.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Yeah my description of the MK interface as "menu diving" was bad phrasing, I just mean that the rotary knobs are a menu of a sort and reading the little tables is irritating. What I mean is I hate the control interface. I fully understand that it's deeper, I don't necessarily want deeper.
I've never played a minilogue so this is all theoretical, and at that price it's not something I'll be buying anytime soon. I just much prefer knob per function interfaces where you can see what everything is set to all the time and that looks like a fun alternative that would do everything I do with the MK. For... loads more money.
So yeah, this is probably just a complaint that I won't resolve by doing anything.
The problem I have with all the presets is remembering what's what, I've made a few of my own already but I lose them. If I spent a day making cool patches on the MK and made a list telling me what they all are I'd probably be happier with it. So this is much cheaper solution than a new synth.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Is my impression right that, allowing that it’s only one voice, the Monologue is more flexible/tweakable than the Minilogue?

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
But only one voice is the ultimate in being "less flexible".
