Just finished up the Screaming Life, clone of the JHS Bunrunner. Used a couple of Russian transistors and an AC128 for the Tonebender side. Pretty happy with it. Can go from mild to wild, and everything in between. Special shout out to Aisha at Loe Sounds who was our partner in crime on this project.

After what seems like an eternity... I finally got a bead on the Devi Ever Silver Rose. We did a board on it, but thanks to yours truly (and a bad schematic on the net) I missed a trace, so we have to redo the boards. I decided to forge ahead with this one anyway, opting for a backside jumper. All I can say is...

IT'S FREEKIN' AWESOME!!!

I went with some tried and true transistors for the Superfuzz side, 2N2219's for the first three, and last stage. 2N2913 matched dually for the octave section. The 2219's come in at around 120 - 130 in the gain department, while the 2913 generally sits around the 150 to 170 mark. Diodes are Russian D9... I.... I think. Can't remember at the moment. Too lazy to go and check.

As for the ICBMP side, 1N914's for diodes, and some minor cap tweaks. The ML741 can was courtesy of my bro Pink Jimi Photon. He sent me a bag of pulls a while back, and the fuzz out of this sucker is just as mojotastic as the brother himself.

We opted to dump the relay bypass switching found in the original. I found that it sucked just waaaay too much juice. Mill 2 bypass is more than adequate, and even with all the fuzz maelstrom that this thing can put out, switching is as quiet as can be.

Here's some fun Dead End FX circuits. Teeth is the Prunes and Custard circuit on their Creme Anglaise board. Sounds incredible. And the Spectrum is the Holmes Spectrum board, a nice tone shaper! Both of these were built in Walker Heavy Industry enclosures. Wish he was putting more of these out but seems to be super busy these days...

loving the mojo in this. lm1458 is one of my favorites.

I think I've found them to be the best in the tremulus Lune circuit to my ear with a 3mm yellow led for the LFO.. other than that I've never really used them much. I only bought them for the Meatball clone, which ended up having way more life with NE5532.

Is there a few recommended circuits where it really shines ?

I rolled a 5532 through it, my hunch was preferring the 1458. I can't be 100% sure though, because I was R&Ring ICs on a single build instead of double blind switching between identical circuits.

My entirely unsupported hunch is that the lower gross bandwidth product starts nudging the high end down a little at these higher gain factors and I like those harmonics more than just the clinical representation of the chop & swerve coming out of the clipping diodes. That's more of the 741 territory, but still, it takes cascading stages.

Holy mushroom, some builds people!

I interrupt your regular programming with another salvaged project. This enclosure I carelessfully drilled to house a Parasit U-235. Everything looked good until I pre-fitted the input jack, and of course it turned out to be right on the corner of the PCB, the plug would essentially hit a chip going in. So it seems that one will have to wait even longer to find a home. Another reason why I hate drilling boxes, even managed to drop this in the process but fuck it.

What I did then was put a Germanium Giant (https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/20 ... giant.html) in there, since I had it on the breadboard and it would utilize all the already drilled holes. Simple and very nice sounding, especially when pushed. Old MP38 transistor, 470nf caps, switch to select clipping between red LED/1N5817 and 1N34A/914 + 2.2 nf cap. Gotta swap out the power input, it's a bit unstable.
