i won't get into this really, but i will just say that if your relationship with you dog was anything like mine, then this is one of the most devastating feelings in the world. have lost a lot of people in my life, but losing my Dalmatian was by far one of the most brutal for many reasons...weebles wrote:Do we have a sadness thread?
Took my wife's dog, which is now my dog after 5 years of marriage, to the vet today and found out she has fluid build up around her stomach/intestines and her lungs/heart.
We're currently camped out in the living room because she can't walk up the stairs. Happiest dog in the world that's just lethargic. My wife rescued her from an abusive home 9 years ago, and she's had a good, long life, but damn.

On top of what I'm assuming is the flu, I have a horrible toothache. Just checked and it's definitely a cavity. I've had one bowl of soup over the last 3 days. I've slept probably 36 out of the last 48 hours. I lost out on 500+ dollars by missing work.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
When I was in grad school I got my confidence, balls, spine, whatever back and broke up with my insane, manipulative, and genuinely dangerous girlfriend. Only problem was I was living in HER house at the time and was forced to move out. I was honest to god homeless for a few weeks until a former A&M faculty member invited me to live in his home until I was back on my feet and had enough money saved to pay the deposit for my own place. He also helped me navigate through the grad school bullshit and expedite my graduation. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without his help.
I found out this morning that he passed away over the weekend.
I also found out that the whack job who’s been blowing up my city has been sending packages from a FedEx location across the street from my apartment.
It’s been a morning.

The bomb think is insane. This world is so fucked up some times.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my grandma recently and I know how much it sucks to lose someone you care about.
I'm struggling once again with withdraw from benzos. I went back on a month or more ago, and have been off for 6 days. Today I was having heightened senses that were almost flooring me. Everything seems bright, the noise around me was sharper and seemed louder, my mouth tasted weird, even my nose is smelling something hard to describe (almost metallic smell?). The worst is I think I've been hallucinating. Brain zaps in and out. I cannot fully form some sentences. My brain is so jumbled. I'm sitting here typing and my hands feel like they are locking up and it's getting harder to put words on the page.
Fuck this stuff so hard.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
Yesterday was crazy man. I wonder how many people go through it like this? Last time I came off benzos (almost 9 years ago), I was in rehab, so I literally had zero choice. I was there for 21 days, so my brain was semi functioning when I left. I do remember it being hazy the first 6 months at least though.dubkitty wrote:oh, man, i feel for you. i had to kick prescription benzos twice in this decade which i was taking for psychiatric stuff. boy, did i ever feel like shit.
Benzos are the worst withdrawal I've been through next to Paxil (which I think almost killed me). I also tried to come off Lexapro about 10 years ago to no avail. Some awful sides there that are unbearable.
Psych drugs are just awful.

yeah, i'm really not a fan. i'm stuck with them, though, because otherwise it'd be right back into the suicidal-depression thing.

Same thing here. Been on Lexapro for 16 years I believe now? Something like that. What's crazy is some insurance companies have black boxed it. So, there was one point in my life where I had to fight, literally every single month, to get my insurance company to pay for my script (thanks for the memories United Healthcare). Now, I don't have insurance, and my scripts are dirt cheap.

Thanks everyone. His funeral is this weekend but I can't make it, which fucking sucks considering he saved my ass.
As for benzos, doing a shitfuckton of heavy lifting helped me when I was weaning off them. Cold turkey is hard as shit, so I'd definitely recommend ramping down and doing something physical to help ease off. YMMV, IANAD, RMV, etc.
