Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I have enough spec parts to build Marks 1-4 Tonebender, as I currently only have a Mk II Si I built myself (though it shreds). I have the DAM spec Mk IV planned, and the Ge Mk III. I recently built a FZ-1A and it's one of my favorites, but running it off two AA in parallel is kind of a pain. I'll have to get the 1.8V zeners from Mouser next time and do a right proper power inverter and LED indicator.
Anyone care to share their favorite Mk III or IV ? Tonebender are a finicky animal and I want to hear some good ones

Well I built the mark 4 .. it sounds sick, but I definitely have to audition some transistors. It has that thick nasty fuzz with everything dimed, and it just sustains for days. .. very cool.

I've had two AC transformers (wall warts) that died on me in the past 2 weeks (I discovered it in the past 2 weeks, I don't know when it happened).
How is this possible? How can a wall wart be damaged or fail?
One was for a Whammy, the other was for an Alesis Air Synth (they're not generic transformers they have their own size barrel (plug), so these are ones I'll have to replace).

I would sell my soul for a Lyra 8 and a KNAS Moisturizer.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I have mine plugged into a power strip, which I turn off when not in use. If you leave a wall wart plugged in, it's still using energy, which is why most of them are hot when they are plugged in, even with nothing hooked up to the DC side.K2000 wrote:I've had two AC transformers (wall warts) that died on me in the past 2 weeks (I discovered it in the past 2 weeks, I don't know when it happened).

I have also learned that just because the adapter is a name brand doesn't mean it's quality. Try the power strip to shit everything down. They will probably last longer.

interesting idea, but not very practical unless you're Keith Rowe.
