Re: The headsup sweet shit on ebay thread....
I thought Ebay lowered it for musicians to like 3.5% or something crazy like that. I remember getting an email about it and everything. Did they already decide that was a terrible idea?
Yea, I also do NOT ebay anymore. People that buy on there are super hard to deal with generally, while people on Reverb, tend to seem like your typical understanding musician. I've yet to run into someone who is just angry and mean on Reverb, on Ebay, that was normal for buyers. Like, getting pissed for no fucking reason because of buyers remorse. ugh.
Ebay is good for a few items. Like Metasonix shit. Some people don't realize that Reverb exists still and use it for stuff like that. So, you can in turn get a higher price. You'll have to pay higher fees, but sometimes, it's totally worth it depending on the price you get. As a rule though, I hate them.
Reverb is much better though. They have become the ebay of music gear. I remember meeting those dudes at NAMM when they were super small still and talking about how much I loved what they were doing it. Shit, I think I've had Reverb.com since it started. They were cool as fuck dude. Now, it's still better but you can tell it's more corporate and less human compassion based. Not a bad thing but turns me off a bit.

seems like a ton of shit just sits there on reverb for months tho.
prices are way lower than ebay and still nobody is buying it
list the same thing on eBay for higher price, sold in a matter of days.

Re: The headsup sweet shit on ebay thread....
Stalled Reverb listings are such a bummer, but the Best Offer option has helped me tremendously on ebay as a seller (but then again, most of what I buy and sell is junk/AS IS 4ever). But I still prefer the latter site, even as most people are checking between both places for the cheapest whatever - likewise, people from non-US territories usually buy weirder stuff at normal/slightly higher prices than regular US ppl, who always want something for much less (OBO rears its ugly head/I'm ugly, too!). Also, I don't really mind the 10% on ebay, especially as more eyes are probably going to see my listings, and they float in the post-sale ether more easily than on Reverb, who seem to want to curb & control that history, for whatever reason. There are still way more scams as a buyer to sift through, but it still beats Reverb, as shiny & attractive as it can seem.Dr. Sherman Sticks M.D. wrote:seems like a ton of shit just sits there on reverb for months tho.

MF's current deal is a hard case for $40. It looks like it'll fit Teles/Strats/other solidbodies. I wouldn't take it on an airplane, but it should be good for getting across town.

His reasoning is the last purchaser accused him of selling things he didn't have... a shirt?

As a buyer, it doesn't help me that Reverb charges their sellers less. I'm not seeing lower prices on Reverb, it seems like Reverb prices are usually higher. There's high prices on Ebay too, but if you are patient you can usually score a deal.
I have like 25 gear transactions on Reverb, and 100 gear transactions on Ebay (mostly purchases). Ebay still has better deals, and more eyeballs.
Disclaimer - most of my stuff is low end, no Custom Shop guitars or anything like that.
Edit: no way does Ebay deserve $90 when you sell a $900 item. That's crazy.
Edit: This thread is pure gold, I've scored several deals reading this thread. Would read again.

I haven't sold anything on ebay in many, many years. I do buy things there every once in a while, though.

You could do that, or drop the modulation and stack 3 pink ones.Jero wrote:Xvive Memory W3 for $109 obo: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Xvive-W3-Memor ... 0013.m1986

I wonder if they've been discontinued. Their Amazon listing has been deactivated.
For the Euro crowd, they're only €83 before shipping.
