I almost posted this yesterday (only mildly ring mod related, but pretty nice anyway):

I'd hit dat.Chankgeez wrote:Jamie Stillman, President of EQD, on ring mods from his recent reddit AMA:

Man shit I would love to have that Mantic one. I think if they ever do another run I would buy one. Expression pedal option!!!jrfox92 wrote:

Considering that purple is a composite of two different wavelength colors (red and blue), it only stands to reason that it would be advantageously used in a ring modulator.Chankgeez wrote:Check out that purple wire:

That would be impossible, since both are out of the visible spectrum.crochambeau wrote:Purple occurs where infra-red and ultra-violet meet.
More so the sum, though "sum" isn't the term used.Chankgeez wrote:So, is purple the sum and difference of red and blue wavelengths?![]()

That would make it additive.Purple is a color intermediate between blue and red.[1][2] It is similar to violet, but unlike violet, which is a spectral color with its own wavelength on the visible spectrum of light, purple is a composite color made by combining red and blue.
Hahaha, but that's the point. It folds the two ends of the spectrum into the color wheel we know and love. That the two mentioned colors are on frequencies outside of our perception means NOTHING to a balanced modulator.digi2t wrote:That would be impossible, since both are out of the visible spectrum.crochambeau wrote:Purple occurs where infra-red and ultra-violet meet.
