Great plan, Dude.

Yeah I figured that writing it down would keep me on track, but I keep getting stuck on part one, then I forget the others. Then I refer to my notes and start at the top! :thumb:

Been thinking of replying a few times but been to lazy since I can't keep things short an all.. Well, over here, Stockholm that is, it's kinda changed. Well, I've been really involved booking shows and stuff the last 5-ish years (I'm 22 now, soon 23, getting old!) so perhaps it's not only the scene that's changed but me along with it and vice versa.. Anyways.

5 years ago punk really grew again, especially in the outskirts, where I'm from. For a while everyone seemed to have a blink182-ripoff (mostly those guys played to get girls) or a trall-punk (swedish melodic punk. "trall" as in something you hum along to. tralalala - get it?) going on. When the Emo-wave came there were alot of those bands around doing shows but most of them were from places more south in Sweden.

Nowadays, well, I gave up booking shows cause the youth center where we did the gigs kept giving us the finger, stealing cred (huge article used frequently as advert for the town, were one of the idiots working there takes full cred for the somewhat 300 people there tonight at this massive concert with 6 bands saying they think it's important to take care of kids today, never mentioning our booking group, which me and 5 friends spent 15hours a week on working our asses off just to make the bands pleased, and get people to come to the damn place) and stole our money!!

So I don't know the "local" local scene that good anymore (if it even still exists) but metal's been popular for a while. By that I mean metalcore.

This band, LAST VIEW (http://www.myspace.com/lastviewsthlm) rehearses in the next room from us and are rather good. Nice guys and gained some great recognition in magazines and at festivals.

Then there's this metal band Skiller( http://www.myspace.com/skillermetal ) who's been around for ages, really trying hard to make it, but somehow never made the break through. Their old stuff was actually pretty good, but I guess the got tired of trying and decided to sell out instead.

Apart from that recent international super succes group "jj" are actually from here. But they started out seriously first when they moved down south to gothenburg. http://www.myspace.com/jjn1n2n3

i dont know much about the scene here except that there's nothing exiting going on.
seems to me like a bunch of clubby /dancy stuff.
i think that most people here might be sightly unaware about the awesome music that came from here.
i've only met one person that has even heard of neu but she was in a later incarnation of the band
herself so that dosn't count.

Richmond has a lot going on, but also a lot of clicks. I prefer shows where bands don't all sound the same, but are on a similar wave length. Some good jams coming out of here though. These are a few of my personal favorite. Snack Truck will blow minds!

22 more months and my wife and i will be in Boston and I am sure the scene is better there.

  I was in the same boat. I grew up in the Caribbean, and if you didn't like Reggae or Calypso based stuff there really wasn't anything else.

Could I ask why you have a move date set almost 2 years out?

My wife is active duty Army. The worst part is that i grew up in Detroit I lived in Minneapolis for 7 years I lived in Austin for 2 years and i lived in denver for 2 years so I know what it is like to be in a town with a great music scene.

Oh god, the scene here in ol' Evansville is aweful
there are like 3 good death metal bands, the rest are crappy ass hardcore bands who often stop shows so they can pray
i even once saw a band who claimed to be "christian black metal" WTF?!?!
we are also overpopulated by scene kids :grumpy:

but if your 21 you can see some pretty awesome bands in bars and places like that
there you can see some pretty good jazz bands, jam bands, and a few classic rock cover bands, AND THATS IT
it pretty much pointless to go to any shows anymore

I mean, maybe if they are all 14-16 or something, and it's just a "highschool thaaaaang"...

I think I take Cuntsville for granted... nowhere else but Birmingham could I have such an active "community" in the state of AL, I'm sure.

I'm so f**king glad the brocore and BAD pseudo-Ska (BRO-SKA  ) and scene bands died off by, like, '07. There's still a lot of "JAMBAAAANDS", but most of them are actually good and consist of nice people... I TOLD YOU, WE HAVE HIPPIES!

Haven't had a REALLY cool band play here in a long while that I can remember, but I can't complain because HSV is thousands of times better than Columbus, MS simply because of the Arts Center, which brings a lot of interesting stuff into HSV. Not to mention, HSV apparently had a very active Punk/Thrash/whatever scene in the 90's... unfortunately, I was not around for that!

Wow, Scene kids are actually pretty new around here, i guess my area is just.....a little slow :picard:

Cesspool Castle!

Fayetteville has too many bars that want to use live music as a hook, and not nearly enough venues.

Also wish we had more all age shows that aren't in someone's back room. House shows are cool and all, but if you don't know the people who own the house, they can be a little unwelcoming.

thinking about it "scenes" are pretty fucking stupid.
as soon as something can be labeled as a scene its pretty much shit.
