Been rewatching this trying to get down and understand the rolling strum, probably best with fingernails.

I'm doing a sound test on it with horrible timing/playing … but it has a ton of potential …

noise/dishwasher/holding awkwardly while standing/not really understanding how the frets "work" (what fret is what note?) … but I still think the instrument sounds cool

While at the shop where I bought the setar the shop owner showed me a santur and I was super impressed by the sound:



I'm beginning to realize that there is no limit to stringed instruments!

This one is a bit more traditional in sound (Irish folkish) and originates in the Appalacian mountains:



You can find these new (made in Canada) for about $100!

Now for a bit more exotic, the Thai Isarn has a very sweet mellow sound …
